Campbell & Johnston

Stellar performance! Their original material is first rate and the covers they tackled are not for amateurs. They owned them with exacting and innovative technical proficiency flavoured with pure heart and soul. Simply one of the best performances I have seen in any venue, large or small. I saw them at the Q104 40th Anniversary Bash at the Scotiabank Center this past November and was instantly determined to see them again any chance I got. The Carleton provided a much more intimate venue, but with all the power and showmanship of an arena show. I’m so pleased that I will be able to tell people that I saw them at such a venue when they are on the big stage permanently. The show was worth triple what I paid for tickets. I’m already waiting for their next show and I will be there.

These two make up the best duo acoustic act I've seen and individually, both are simply amazing guitar players, riffing off each other's complex chord patterns in a way that complements each other perfectly. They did some of the best cover versions I've ever heard, especially Bron-Y-Aur Stomp from Led Zepplin and Proud Mary, as well as their own original songs which won them the winning blues recording of the year (2022 east coast music awards). They are definitely an act not to be missed if they are ever in your area. Chris Banick

This was a fabulous concert! Christine Campbell and Blake Johnston have been playing together for about 5 years and it shows! They are so tight! They exchange guitar leads back and forth - seemingly effortlessly and sing In harmony or alternatively - even while playing complicated guitar parts! The sounds they can coax from acoustic guitars are incredible! The vocals were superb as well! They both have a great repertoire of catchy original songs with thought provoking lyrics. The few cover songs that they do, take the original artists work up a couple of notches! The audience was so captivated, the wait staff discreetly waited until after the show to collect for dinner. Great meal at Hugh's Room Live too! Didn't want the show to end! 12 out of 10. Doesn't get any better! Can't wait to see them again.

Acoustic set was over the top good. Electric set was great as well but sound system volume and room size prevented from hearing what a great and ranging voice Christine has. Great concert otherwise and will be chasing down more of Christine and Blake Johnston, whose chops are fabulous. Highly recommended.
