Young Echoes

Young Echoes were formed in 2013, when singer Tom Howells answered a classified ad placed by Karl Schreiter, Hendrik Möhle and Timothy G. Remfrey. “Sänger Gesucht!” was what they wrote, and a singer is what they got. Since that fateful day, Young Echoes repertoire and reputation has been growing exponentially month on month in their adopted home of Berlin. The band clicked in the first rehearsal, and Young Echoes quickly developed sound that mixes the influences of 80s British pop, Teutonic electro synths and classic indie – all with the fiercely independent spirit of early punk rock. 2013 saw their first live shows, and 2015/2016 promises to be a big year for these boys from Berlin. Their rehearsal space in Baumschulenweg has recently been converted to an impromptu recording studio – and work is currently underway on a debut EP, due in the Summer of 2015. True to their independent roots, the recordings will be completed using makeshift rigs and microphones, stolen software and borrowed synthesizers. The classic Berlin spirit of improvisation and juxtaposition is woven into Young Echoes DNA – creating something from nothing is a trait that has been largely forgotten in other parts of the world. Expect an incendiary record from these four Echoes – if their recordings can match the urgent, frenetic energy of their live shows, then it could be one of the most talked about debut records in recent years.
