Biography

Have you ever been serenaded by a musical duo, who plays over ten different genres of popular music, using the violin instead of their voices to literally express a songs lyrics?

If not, then you must not have heard of the upcoming violin virtuosos-Sons of MyStro born to a Barbadian mother and Jamaican father have been honing their skills in the south Florida public school system, attending Dillard High School for the Performing Arts.

Since being formed as a group, in June of 2010, Sons of MyStro have performed at a variety of events including, high school and college tours along with major festivals like the Grace Jamaican Jerk Fest, One Love Reggae Fest and Reggae Dancehall Awards alongside veteran artists like John Holt, Ken Boothe, Dobby Dobson, Freddie McGregor, Frankie Paul, Barrington Levy, and artists from the now generation including RL of NEXT, Voicemail, Ding Dong, Nuffy, Kevin Lyttle and Alozade to mention a few.

Many of these artists have expressed amazement at the depth and variety of Sons of MyStro’s musical selections and their innovative and artists from the now generation including RL of NEXT, Voicemail, Ding Dong, Nuffy, Kevin Lyttle and Alozade to mention a few. Many of these artists have expressed amazement at the depth and variety of Sons of MyStro’s musical selections and their innovative and artistic arrangements.

In covering a song, Sons Of MyStro invariably enhances that particular song due to their unique styling.

Sons Of MyStro also composes their own material, currently amassing songs for their upcoming debut album. Among their earliest influences, going back to their days in elementary school, is the unique, ground breaking group-Black Violin. After seeing Black Violin perform for the first time and meeting them backstage, the youngest member of the group, Umoja, expressed his desire to one day play like them and was advised by Kevin Marcus to "practice, practice, practice".

This lit a spark within Umoja, as he took this advice literally and greatly improved his technique and styling abilities, consequently impacting his brothers as well.

Another of their great influences is Samvel Yervinyan, and Sayaka Katsuki, violinist with Yanni, and also the late, great, Jascha Heifetz who was one of the worlds greatest violinist. They aspire to one day attain the exceptional levels of these artist and perhaps even play alongside some of them, in the future.

Among Sons of MyStro future aspirations are attending Julliard School of Music for Umoja, further enhancing his exceptional musical abilities and for Malcolm, to attend The University of Miami to study music production and music business.

Besides putting themselves in a position to someday play with many of the luminaries in the music fraternity, Sons of MyStro wants to give back to their community by teaching and influencing youngsters.

In bringing the violin to the forefront, Sons of MyStro hopes to bring many years of pleasurable musical enjoyment to an audience, worldwide, especially during turbulent times of distress! Look out world you are on a magical, musical journey, courtesy of the Sons of MyStro.
