About Charlie Peacock

Charlie Peacock is a 4x Grammy Award-winning, multi-format performer, composer and record producer. Peacock’s production credits range from Lenachka, Chris Cornell and Ladysmith Black Mambazo to AAA and Americana successes such as The Lone Bellow, Holly Williams, The Civil Wars, Ben Rector and Brett Dennen.

Peacock began his iconoclastic career in the 1980s as a singer-songwriter for A&M, then Island Records. In addition to his unique solo efforts, Peacock has played a lead role in creating major chart hits in three separate decades—most notably Amy Grant's "Every Heartbeat" (1991), Switchfoot's "Dare You to Move" (2002), The Civil Wars' Gold debut album Barton Hollow (2011) - earning Grammys for Best Folk Album and Country Duo - and the (2013) #1 Billboard Pop debut, The Civil Wars, featuring the co-written single, “The One That Got Away.” In recent years, Peacock's solo output has included his acclaimed singer-songwriter release, No Man's Land (2012), and three jazz/improvisational releases Love Press Ex-Curio (2005), Arc of the Circle (2008) and Lemonade (2014). As a jazz/improvisational artist Peacock and performed and recorded with: Ralph Alessi, Don Alias, Scott Amendola, Joey Baron, Béla Fleck and the Flecktones, Maurice Brown, Jeff Coffin, Ravi Coltrane, Hilmar Jensson, Felix Pastorius, Jordan Perlson, Ben Perowsky, Derrek Phillips, Marc Ribot, Henry Robinett, Kurt Rosenwinkel, Roger Smith, Kirk Whalum, Jim White, Matt Wilson and Victor Wooten.

Considered one of Nashville's most prolific cultural influencers, Peacock has dedicated himself to championing the independent music scene. Toward that end he has worked with Brooke Waggoner, The Civil Wars, Ruby Amanfu, k.s. rhoads, Lenachka, and the Ten Out of Tenn project featuring Erin McCarley, Matthew Perryman Jones, Trent Dabbs, Katie Herzig and more. A long-time advocate for social justice, Peacock has worked directly with The ONE Campaign for over a decade, a fruitful relationship that began in 2002 when he hosted co-founder Bono and, later, ONE President David Lane at his home, putting them in front of Nashville's artist community.

Peacock's many endeavors include working in Film/TV as a music supervisor, producer and composer, and as writer/director/producer for the short film The Legend Hank Cochran (2010) starring Merle Haggard, Elvis Costello, Lee Ann Womack and Jamey Johnson. Peacock was also music producer/film producer/director for Brooke Waggoner’s short Go Easy Little Doves concert DVD, and producer for the award-winning Any Day Now documentary of the Ten Out of Tenn Fall Tour 2008 starring Erin McCarley, Trent Dabbs, Katie Herzig and Matthew Perryman Jones. His title theme score for the AMC drama TURN: Washington’s Spies is in its fourth season. In 2017 Peacock co-produced the feature film, And Then I Go starring Justin Long, Melanie Lynskey, Tony Hale and Carrie Preston. His latest jazz/improvisational recording is set to release in February, 2018.
