About Debbie Reifer

From childhood, Debbie Reifer used music and songwriting to express the things she couldn’t speak out loud. Often compared to Nora Jones and heavily influenced by songwriters such as Sade, Amel Larrieux & Corinne Bailey Rae, Debbie’s writing style reflects a tender articulation of the human condition and offers musical therapy for the soul. Debbie started singing professionally in 2012, but has already built a reputation for having tremendous talent, drive, professionalism and an unforgettable voice that works its way into the heart of the listener. Since the release of her first single Amber, a song she wrote about domestic violence which garnered the attention of International Activists The Pixel Project, Debbie has gone on to pen several other captivating songs. “We Are Love” featured on her 2013 EP “Hearts Like Mine” received the honour of being a finalist in the UK Song Writing Contest, one of the most prestigious song writing contests in the world. On the performance circuit, the nominee for the 2014 Barbados Music Awards "Best New Artist" has been busy, gracing the stage both locally and internationally. Last year she travelled to Jamaica to headline at the legendary Red Bones Café, followed by a show at the historic House of Blues in Hollywood. She can also name several A-list clients including the celebrity couple Erin Featherston and Gabe Saporta. Her performance at their Barbados wedding landed her a spot on MarthaStewart.com’s best bands to hire for your wedding day. Also aspiring to write music for TV and Film, Debbie has had the privilege of writing for the local (Barbadian) film “Chrissy”, which has gone on to receive international acclaim in the UK, Canada, Jamaica and the U.S. She has partnered again with the film’s producer Step by Step Productions to write “The Ruin” for their new project “Vigilante” set for release in 2015. “The Ruin is a song that seeks to capture the heart behind wanting to do the right thing,” Reifer explained. “It was really a beautiful experience to uncover the struggle of the main characters and translate that into music.” When she's not performing or making the music she loves to share with world, Debbie donates her time performing in support of local charities, including “Variety Children's Charity”.
