This show blew me away! A must see show like no other. The intensity of the entire evening was just beyond imaginable in these jaded times.
Loved the Vanrays and also Shiloh Lindsey who opened too. The Railway club is super cool! I had just been reading John Doe’s book “Under the Big Black Sun”
Which is a personal history of LA punk and it conveyed the feeling of how bands supported each other and played small clubs with a scene that was exciting and new. Big John Bates and his Noirchestra were wild and tremendously entertaining. They captured that feeling of 1977 that is rare to find nowadays. I was in from Miami and only in Vancouver for 2 days so it made my trip. Thank you Big John Bates, Brandy Bones, RequiEmily and Ty-Ty for a mesmerizing performance.
The Vanrays were equally intense and

Victoria, Canada@Lucky BarAbout Big John Bates: Noirchestra
Big John Bates came out of late 90's second-wave psychobilly and earned a reputation with an infamous live show. Touring throughout Europe, Canada, Japan and the American underground punk circuit from Washington to Florida they played up to 150 shows a year.
"Big John Bates & the Voodoo Dollz" were primarily a gothabilly band heavily influenced by theCramps, often touring with a live burlesque show. The BJB Noirchestra covers more sonic territory including Gothic Americana populated by bands like the Gun Club and 16 vHorsepower.
John began his career in the late 80's as singer and co-writer/founder of thrash metal legends Annihilator.
