About Shane Wallin
Shane Wallin is a New Mexico based writer, singer-songwriter & performer. Voted Top Musicians, Best Musician, Best Male Vocalist & Best Singer Songwriter (2011-21) in New Mexico, by Albuquerque The Magazine. Shane has toured the Southwestern, United States extensively since 2010. He has played between 250 and 300 show dates a year in 2017, 2018 & 2019. Extending his tour reach all across the United States into Colorado, Arizona, Texas, Illinois and Montana, to name a few.
He is a prolific songwriter. The Albuquerque based musician self released “This Year Has Changed Me”, an EP of raw organic songs in January 2010. The release landed him his first shows in and around the Albuquerque area. The release featured fan favorites “Room To Breathe” & “Nothing To Write Home About”, and garnered him some attention for “Best Songwriter” in New Mexico in 2011.
In early 2012 Shane began working on a new collection of songs with the Sweden based, Grammy Award winning songwriter and producer, Stacy Parrish. The release featured Jack Casady of Jefferson Airplane on Bass, Wally Ingram (Sheryl Crow, Bonnie Raitt) on Drums, and Ryan Martino on guitar. The initial primer version of “Free” was released in December of 2014, which featured seven new tracks, and was recorded in Sweden, Los Angeles and Albuquerque. The singles “Get Away Baby’ and “Sugar and Spice’ were featured on the full length studio release. An expanding music catalogue coupled with and extended tour range landed him accolades as Best Musician and Male Vocalist in New Mexico during this time.
Shane then released a deluxe version of “Free” with alternate mixes, b-sides and acoustic versions in July 2015. All songs were recorded during the “Free’ sessions from 2012-2014. The album contained acoustic versions of “Get Away Baby”, “Heart Of A Fighter” and alternate mixes of the country inflected “Won’t Change Me” & the pop infused “I Do”. That same year Shane received another honor in the Albuquerque area for Best Vocalist, as voted by fans in the New Mexico area.
The momentum continued to grow in the summer of 2017 & Shane began recording his newest full length studio album which he produced with long time friend, engineer, guitarist & producer Ryan Martino. Wallin says “Making this album with Ryan felt like the perfect, logical, next step in the process of making a quality record. We had already played hundreds of shows together all over the Southwest, and the chemistry was there from moment number one”. The pair recorded twenty new songs, and narrowed the new album release down to just twelve.
“The Flood” debuted on December 6th, 2019, and was played earlier in the previous month, before a sold out crowd at the Las Puertas event center in Albuquerque, New Mexico. The album consists of twelve new songs. The album features the singles “All My Love”, “The Flood” & “Higher and Higher”. Wallin performs night in and night out, primarily as a solo artist, with a looper and acoustic guitar. “Really the whole album stems from the idea of keeping the recordings as tight as possible, just like it would sound every night when I play with my looper’.
“The Flood’ (Deluxe Version) is set to come out on December 25th, 2020 which features fifteen tracks. Marking the 1 year anniversary of the initial record release.
