About Kat Hunter
I've always been a singer, or at least constantly making noise. I started playing guitar because I was tired of being limited by the track tapes at the local Christian book store and that's where I'd get my material for the church solos. My Dad met and introduced me to a man whom he had just met, Crockett Frizzell. I still to this day have a hard time admitting that I can sing, so when Crockett told me it'd be easier to learn to play if I could sing along...I told him I'd try. Silver Threads and Golden Needles. That's all he needed to hear. There weren't many lessons after that. Not because I couldn't play, but because he was impressed by how well I sang. I tagged along to his gigs and steadily learned more songs and gathered enough material that I could plays shows on my own. I learned just enough chords to be dangerous and start writing my own songs. I eventually moved to Nashville to attend college and become a great country music star. I have so far only excelled at the former. I never really developed the confidence to answer the question, "Do you know how to sing?" or "Do you write?" with an affirmitave and sure response...until now. After 10 + years of taking direction and advice from some of the dearest people, there was one person standing in my way. Me. Well, I've decided to get out of my own way and assert myself as a confident and talented artist and trust my judgement. So I'm taking the chance and assuming all the risk. This is a new venture but and old passion. I hope you can appreciate and join me in my attempt to make a living at what I'd gladly do for free.
