Disaffected

Disaffected were formed in '91 in Portugal by drummer Joaquim Aires and Sérgio Paulo (Guitar/Vocals), as a Death/thrash metal band. Later adding Zakk (Guitar) and Sérgio Monteiro on bass, the band released "...After..." demo in '92, and later that same year they were included in "The Birth of a Tragedy" (MTM '92), a vinyl compilation of portuguese metal bands with the song "Echoes Remain".
In '93 line-up changes ensued as they recruited bass player António Gião, vocalist Gonçalo Cunha and guest vocalist Nuno Loureiro (Exiled) and performed a lot of shows with this line-up.
Later their music had become more progressive and complex, and in '94 keyboard player Fátima Jerónimo and vocalist José Costa (Sacred Sin) joined the band and they got signed by Skyfall Records (Portugal) and released "Vast" full-length album in 1995. This album was recorded at Namouche Studios (Lisbon) and produced by Marsten Bailey. Disaffected's "Vast", which includes "Thou Art Lord" (Acheron cover), is an important reference in the progressive metal scene, as one of the best metal productions ever done in Portugal. A videoclip for the song "Vast - The Long Tomorrow" was recorded to promote the album "Vast" and was aired on MTV, VIVA, MCM and RTP (Portuguese Television), and they've also covered "Seasons in the Abyss" for the Slayer tribute album "Slatanic Slaughter II" (Black Sun Records '96).
In '97 the band stop activity due to internal problems. No more shows were performed since then. Until now the band is in sleep mode, not dead yet...
...and its coming back to live! In December 2006, keyboard player Bianca Pintea and drummer Octávio Custódio joined the band and the reunion happens!
In 2008, the song "Vast - The Long Tomorrow" of Disaffected's debut album "VAST" was included in the "Entulho Sonoro 5", a compilation CD of the April'08 edition of the portuguese underground magazine "Underworld".
In March 2011 Disaffected finishes the new album. "Rebirth" contains 11 tracks produced by Fernando Matias at The Pentagon Audio Manufacturers Studios (Lisbon, Portugal).
In April 2011 the band part ways with its keyboard player Bianca and recruits Rodrigo Domingues for her place.
In 2011 the band sign a record deal for a worldwide release with the german label Massacre Records. The new album called "Rebirth" was released worldwide on May 25, 2012.
On May 30, 2012, the band released an official video for "The Rebirth Of...". The song comes off Disaffected's 2nd album "Rebirth" and the clip was directed by Mafalda Norte and Frederico Weinholtz.
In December 2013, the band amicably part ways with keyboardist Rodrigo Domingues.
The auditions for his replacement will start early 2014...
In February 2014, keyboard player Filipa Alçada joined the band.
In December 2014, former guitarist Sérgio Paulo amicably left the band due to personal issues, and in June 2015, after some auditions, guitar player Bruno Vicente joined the band.
On 20th November 2015, Disaffected re-released via Chaosphere Recordings, the classic long time out-of-print debut album "Vast" in a limited Digipack Special Edition with bonus tracks (Slayer cover "Seasons in the Abyss" taken from the 1996 Slayer tribute album compilation "Slatanic Slaughter II", and the previously unreleased pre-Vast demo "Halloween Rehearsal Demo 94"), and was digitally remastered by producer Fernando Matias at The Pentagon Audio Manufacturers Studios.
At the end of 2016, due to personal reasons, the band parted ways with vocalist José Costa.
Octávio Custódio, besides the drums recording, assumed also all the male vocals recordings in the new album.
After several months of hard work, the new album "The Trinity Threshold" was finished in Feb 2017.
In the begining of 2017, drummer Manuel Teles has joined the ranks of Disaffected, replacing Octávio Custódio, who will be in exclusive the lead singer of the band.
In July 2017, the band signs with Chaosphere Recordings, for the release of the new album.
The follow-up to 2012's "Rebirth" and highly anticipated 3rd album "The Trinity Threshold", was released on 17th November 2017 via portuguese label Chaosphere Recordings.
On February 15, 2018, the official music video for the song “Glossolalia” was released. The clip was filmed at Black Sheep Studios (Mem Martins, Portugal) and was directed and produced by Ivo Martins.
In May 2019, due to personal reasons, the band amicably parted ways with keyboardist Filipa Alçada, witch was replaced by Pedro Raimundo (ex-Corpus Christii, ex-Desire).
On January 2020, vocalist José Costa rejoined Disaffected, replacing Octávio Custódio.
