Descolada

From the hills of Western North Carolina, Descolada is an Americana, Country and Folk music project led by Colton Ray Nelson. Reared and raised in Northern Indiana, the well humored melancholy of the Midwest seeps through the pores of his songs.

Descolada’s sound is rooted in tradition. However, Colton's lyricism is often anything but. Stories of internet conspiracy theories, devils, and world destroying black holes weave their way through classic melodies, song structures, and instrumentation.

In the story telling tradition of performers like John Prine and Todd Snider, Descolada’s live performances are filled with humor and positivity. On-stage banter isn’t an after thought; it’s part a broader experience that takes the audience on a journey through the often absurd peaks and valleys of being a human in the 2020’s.

Colton self-released Descolada’s debut album, Big Dam Foolishness, in 2021 followed by his 3 song EP Holy Ghost, Fire on the Mountain in 2022. Descolada signed with Soda Mountain Records in 2023 to release a 10-song project over 10 months of digital releases that will culminate in Descolada’s first vinyl LP release in 2024.
