Jorja May

Jorja May is an Australian singer/ songwriter who recently moved to London but was born in the small town of Rockhampton in Central Queensland, Australia. She grew up listening to her fathers country music and has since then grown into a folk artist heavily influenced by country music. Although her sound doesn't scream “country”, she says her song writing reflects that of country music songwriters. She is fascinated by telling stories through music and says that telling stories about her experiences through her music is one of the greatest feelings. “I love walking off stage and having someone come up to me afterwards and tell me that they completely understood one of my songs! It makes you feel like you’re doing something right.” She began singing at the age of 12 and song writing at the age of 15 after researching successful artists such as Taylor Swift and discovering that they all wrote their own songs. She began trying to write songs but struggled until the age of 16 when she wrote her first ever song “Letting Go”. Since then Jorja has gone on to write numerous songs about her experiences, as well the experiences of her friends. Her song titled “We’re Not In Love” is a break up song about a friend of hers who broke up with her boyfriend and told Jorja all about it. Jorja has recently released her Debut EP "Want You" which is available for purchase digitally worldwide. "I'm so happy to finally have the EP out their for people to listen too, these songs have been my life for the past few years and i'm so happy people can finally hear them and hopefully relate to them" she says. This 19 year old is destined for a bright future performing music to a widely engaging audience.
