About Merlijn Nash
Influenced by the likes of James Blake, Lorde and Radiohead, Amsterdam-based producer and songwriter Merlijn Nash creates song with beats, guitarscapes, synthesizers and vocals. His vocals have a soft inpact that nudges you into daydreaming.
In 2013 Merlijn released his first EP ‘Running Forward’, and with it toured Holland and England, culminating in a show on the biggest festival of the province of South-Holland (Parkpop). During and after the 60 show tour he wrote his second EP ‘A D W A’, inspired by the tragic loss of his wife.
He worked on the record together with Len van de Laak (Dotan), Tom Gelissen (Tori Amos, Woodkid), and Merijn van Haren (NAVARONE). Maxazine, a large online music platform, premiered his music video and first single ‘Shadow’. Soon after it was played on national radio and various local radiostations.
Before releasing ‘A D W A’, Merlijn joined a touring national festival (Poprond) to tryout his new material. On November the 17th 2016, the EP was released in a packed Sugar Factory in Amsterdam.
Merlijn is busy writing more material for his unnamed follow-up EP and singles. He has announced he will be persuing more beat-oriented form of songwriting, following the road on how he wrote ‘Shadow’, the single from his second EP. He will be playing a volley of new try-outs in Holland, and is touring with Belle and the Beats and Gunned Down Horses in Germany and Denmark early summer this year.
"Sound, imagery, song, storytelling… Everything comes together in Merlijn Nash’s new EP ‘A D W A’. Beautiful for this time of year."
- Louis Gauthier, NPO Radio 1 (Dutch National Radio)
"My first encounter with Merlijn Nash was on a NO MILK TODAY festival evening, where I asked him to play a couple of songs solo with just piano and vocals. Even though it was a one day rock festival with a rock oriented audience, everbody couldn’t stop talking about those few songs he played that evening."
- Houbie Strobbe, NO MILK TODAY (Amsterdam based manager, festival organiser, and music promotor)
