About Buzzard

Buzzard are a British Grunge Rock power trio with Punk undertones to their sound. Formed in 2011, they produce and perform mostly original material and are based in Dudley / Stourbridge, West Midlands UK. A quote by a fan upon the release of the music video for their single "Kamikaze" perfectly describes the bands musical sound... "excellent work, Nirvana meets Motörhead springs to mind!" "Kamikaze" is taken from their second album "Valium Gorillas" released October 2017 and has enjoyed receiving a fast rate of online views, airplay and positive feedback since being uploaded to the bands YouTube channel. Winning single of the month in May 2017 issue of Ryans Gig Guide. The music video also features guitars provided via endorsement by Quincy Music. Further music videos from the album later released include, Internet Superstar, Step It Up, We Deserve Better and Christmas song Under The Tree. The album was written, recorded, mixed, mastered and produced entirely by the band themselves – available to stream and download on Spotify, itunes, Amazon etc. A truly diverse album consisting of both electric and acoustic songs. Rating 4/5 review from ‘’The Rock Asylum’’
The band have hit the ground running hard showcasing "Valium Gorillas" live at venues across the UK along with their now local classic debut album songs mixed in. Bassist Andy recently quoting in an interview "We all love the Black Country, add to this its central location, all the U.K.’s towns are within easy reach and we have no fear of the commute’’. In October 2017 Buzzard embarked on their first ever UK tour starting with their album launch show for ‘Valium Gorillas’’ paying homage to front man Jimmy’s hometown Dudley at The Lamp Tavern before setting off on the road with further live shows. The tour was featured in Dudley News, Ryan’s Gig Guide and Slap Magazine leading up to the event. The tour was a huge success aided greatly by putting into practice all of the bands experience already earned prior gigging out of town at past events. The tour music video for song ‘’We Deserve Better’’ edited by frontman Jimmy gives a great insight into the goings on of the tour. Buzzard are increasingly earning a strong reputation for not only performing live well, but also implementing and encouraging fun crowd engagement. - From getting people up on stage to sing, to involving the crowd and even swapping instruments, Buzzard are an ever evolving interesting live band and pack a big musical punch for three individuals:
Live video - cover of ‘’Born To Be Wild’’ – headline show at Percy’s Café Bar October 2017
Live video - ''Kamikaze'' - live at The Haygate October 2017
Live video - Acoustic performance at Wolves Fest 2016
‘’ The performance was energetic and driven which showed the band’s hunger to progress in the music industry ‘’ ‘’ these guys certainly threw everything they had into their performance which was thoroughly enjoyed by all’’ (Deb Gardner – The Rock Asylum – review of Valium Gorillas album launch show)
''These guys are obviously gig hardened veterans and that came across as they delivered a high energy and fun packed set to keep the audience entertained'', ''it was fun and a great way to cap off the night!'', ''It’s nice to see camaraderie shown by Buzzard", ''Quite possibly the best Live and Unsigned night yet and definitely one of the most fun!'' (Woody - Midlands Rocks)
"You guys have a real connection and love in the ranks" (Sam Liddicott-musicmusingsandsuch)
Along with being main support for Motörhead tribute "Motorheadache" and being asked back in 2018, the band have had the pleasure of supporting many great bands and up and coming acts over the years including metal legends Diamond Head at The Haygate Charity Weekender, Weak13 at Subside, Evil Scarecrow at The Queens Hall, American and International bands: Four Star Mary at The Slade Rooms, The Boston Shakers at Wolves Fest 2017, The Maension at The Rigger, BOPS at West Street Live, Noir Project at The Foundry, and Baltimore Gun Club at Hollybush Grunge Fest 2017.
Other live highlights for the band definitely include, headlining venues such as The Robin 2, Claptrap, Percy’s Café Bar, Pit & Pendulum, Mcleans, The Napier, The Hammer & The Anvil, The Giffard, Base Studios, The Roadhouse, The Flapper, The Dog & Parrot and JB’s. Festival highlights include Wolves Fest (2016 & 2017), The North East Wales Diversity Festival (2016 & 2017) and in association with The 2015 Rebellion Punk festival in Blackpool (Gillespies) Buzzard have even performed at private party’s for close friends and family, most notably a private chopper club party event. After performing for many charity events over time, the band decided to run their own event in November 2016 and raised £300 for Birmingham Childrens Hospital and continue to run a similar event yearly at Christmas time.
To help fill the void between the release of ‘’Valium Gorillas’’ and their debut album ‘’All Roads Lead To’’ Buzzard recorded a demo single for upcoming song ''Step It Up'', recorded and mixed by ex Soley Morning drummer Chris Smith at The Den Studios. The track was a big local breakthrough for the band receiving great feedback and a large amount of online airplay still ongoing to this day, reaching no.1 on the Reverbnation charts thanks to their fans on Christmas Eve 2015. The song was re-recorded for ‘’Valium Gorillas’’ and features guest vocals from singer songwriter Emily Abbiss of the band Ed Strong.
Since its release on the 5th of April 2014, their debut album ''All Roads Lead To...'' has proved popular locally with a continually increasing fan base still drawing from it today. Pressed copies are still available to buy in S.T Records in Dudley. The band received their first buzz of airplay from highlight tracks off the record on most notably Australia’s Valley FM 89.5. The album proved to be a strong foundation platform for the band. ‘’This is loud music for loud people… support this band now!’’, ‘’their song Saturday Night TV lyrically is a joy to hear coming out of a cd player and as you would expect, its full of references to the brainwashing done every week by modern television’’, ‘’this album is a great introduction to Buzzard and has a very underground feel to it throughout’’ (Nick J. Townsend - Ryan's Gig Guide) ‘’The marvellous crunch of Saturday Night TV, surely set to become their anthem… this damnation of The X Factor complete with its line (pick up your guitar and grab your drums) exemplifies the DIY attitude perfectly’’, ‘’the song No Quit rumbles like Motorhead jamming out a Georgia Satellites song and as such is superb… And Friends & Foes (our only ballad smiles Jimmy) highlights a sensitive side’’ (Andy Thorley - Maximum Volume Music).
