Mattson 2

Mattson 2 are simply awesome.

Come on, we need that sixth star! The Mattson brothers completely and utterly blew the room away at The Jack London in Portland. Completely and utterly. Seriously, a version of A Love Supreme by a guitar and drum duo? When music is great, words are idle chatter… on top of, or in the midst of that, the duo are a couple of great guys, full of energy, totally engaging the crowd, and all while being masters of their craft. Jazz? Rock? Surfer-jazz-rock? In the end, it doesn’t matter. If you want to hear fantastic music with incredibly talented, inventive, and brilliant musicians, do not miss these guys next time they’re coming through your village.

Jonathan and Jared are prodigiously gracious creators, innovators, and interpreters. This marked our second M2 live show. Hearing the Mattsons' elegantly celebratory, and VITAL homage to Coltrane's 'A Love Supreme' played live is cataloged now in my favorite musical memories. Brilliant guys; eloquent performers; also surprisingly good huggers! The Mattson 2 are a modern jazz must-see.
