About Eyedentity
Diana Purim began her musical career in 1972, touring with Chick Corea’s Original Return to Forever in the belly of her mother. She was raised on the road traveling like a gypsy from country to country with her parents, Brazilian Jazz pioneers, singer Flora Purim and percussionist Airto Moreira. One of only three women to have ever been invited to perform live with Preservation Hall Jazz Band, Diana’s credits include singing on a tribute to Gil Scott Heron with Gregory Porter and Martin Luther to performing with an orchestra led by Brazilian/Folk composer Arthur Verocai honoring his great musical work, also taking part in the original “Suite for Ma Dukes” show which was a glorious tribute to J. Dilla with artists such as Common, Talib Kweli, Thundercat, Bilal and many others. She has participated in workshops with the late Babatunji Olatunji at the Esalen Institute and has also recently recorded and arranged vocals on Airto’s latest album which was just released in December of 2017 in Brazil.
Krishna Booker is the son of renowned jazz bassist, Walter Booker, nephew of Wayne Shorter and godson of Herbie Hancock… He began his musical career recording for Herbie as a rapper. He later went on to producing, composing and performing his own songs with long time friend and wife, Diana Purim. Together, they formed the band, Eyedentity. Krishna went on to learn percussion with legends such as his father in law, Airto Moreira and Carlinhos Pandeiro De Ouro.
Both Krishna and Diana have toured the world and recorded and performed with a variety of musical legends such as George Duke, Herbie Hancock, Sergio Mendes, Flora Purim & Airto Moreira, Wah Wah Watson Alphonso Johnson, etc…
He and Diana have just completed their latest urban Jazz/Brazilian fusion album as Diana Purim & Eyedentity, entitled “Many Bodies, One Mind”. With stellar guest appearances by Herbie Hancock, the late George Duke, Airto Moreira, Justo Almario, Carlinhos Pandeiro De Ouro, Pete Lockett and many more incredible musicians!
