Musicianship, vocals sound were stellar. Song choice and entertainment was dreadful. The audience was pretty rude, talked over the music a lot. That may have been because Ray indulged himself instead of his fans. Love his studio work, will not see him live again.
He was amazing!!!! The venue was beautiful but I could not see him well. Was told the small theatre didn’t have a bad seat. Hard to see unless your at the first front rows of the balconies. And the theatre was filled with a senior citizen crowd that has concert season tickets. Weird to watch someone you love with many people who have never heard of him in such a small theatre. Because of that there was a lot of chatting among that group.
Ray has a unique voice and style that makes you feel good. I was only familiar with a couple of his songs but his performance was like an intimate show for his audience. Unfortunately, the people behind me were having conversation through out the first few songs and I got up and found an empty seat in the back. I enjoyed the show regardless of the rude people.
He played Empty!!! We loved the show..true artist. Thanks for sharimg your stories about coming home. Also loved that I could purchase a signed, guitar string used from a previous performance & city. Mine was from a recent visit to Minneapolis. I have a bucket list of artists, now I can check your name on the list, but hoping to see you next time through Omaha.
I like rays new stuff, that being said I think alot of the audience wanted to hear older stuff. Since his playstyle has switched to almost psycadelic rock, I feel like ray needs to change his bands name to prevent this misconception audience goers may have.
First time at the venue and absolutely LOVE IT! Neko Case was such a treat. I definitely enjoyed her set. Ray was hands down an amazing live performer. Can’t even be made that he didn’t play any of his really old hits. He’s just that good. 12 yrs was worth the wait!
