David Bromberg

Saw him early in his career at the main point in Bryn Mawr and the Philadelphia folk festival. He retired Saturday night. I was one of very few lucky enough to see him from beginning to end. Thank you, David Bromberg

Fantastic show. We did not know this was David Bromberg's last ever performance. He announced that he is retiring today. Thus, there was a special poignance to the performance. The band was tight and focused and showed an enormous range of talent. Bromberg displayed of all his multiple talents on acoustic, electric, and steel guitars and mandolin and sang with sweetness, soul, and strength. Some of the songs brought tears to our eyes and the last song, sung without amplification with a message about leaving and moving on, had the entire audience on the edge of their seats. An unforgettable concert.

Jorma was great. The Variety Playhouse was terrific as usual. David Bromberg acted like a pompous ass. Someone in the audience asked Bromberg to play Mr Bojangles. David replied to the audience that was unacceptable and for sure he would not perform Mr. Bojangles. David also commented he was fucking 77 years old, had 3 more shows left on this tour and then he was going to retire. His quintet was good. For some inexplicable reason Jorma and David did not do a curtain call. I've been to 100's of shows in my 79+ years and can remember that happening only once before. I saw them perform together in 2016 and I'm almost positive they played jointly together then. not separately as they did last night. I am giving my review. I had not seen David in forever—likely 30 years or more—thus it was so great to see him again. But it was bittersweet as he announced that this was his last tour. He’s not as quick around the fretboard as he once was, but his band is terrific. He can still make you howl with laughter and cry with his touching tunes. He is just a master.

It was great to see David and his band on his farewell to the road tour. The venue is not the best acoustically, but the staff, food and vibes are great. David’s band is top notch. He says that he has lost a bit of speed at 77, but his performance was still powerful. I’m glad that I’ll get to see him again this coming week on the Cayamo music cruise out of Miami.

Poignant. As we all “mature,” I.e. age, we were lucky enough to see Bromberg on his last tour in hometown. We all cried. Beautiful, spectacular music in its own right. Coming to the end made it more exquisite. Thank you, David, for so many years of pleasure. Hopefully we’ll all get to be in the audience in the next plane! Fantasy life sustains us! Wishing you well. With deep gratitude for all the joy you’ve brought us.

Robbie Fulkes opening act was very good. Bromberg was his usual entertaining self. Only complaint is that it was to short, about an hour and a half. Venue was very nice.

Great, and that's after taking my granddaughter to the Sat night show in Portland. I was leary of repetition, promoting the bands new CD. They did play a percentage of the new CD/ DVD, but varied the set list to include old and new with an array of genres to please all.The components of the band are as fine as any players out there. Each the master of 2 or 3 instruments and attentive to Brombergs subtle leadership. Thumbs way up! Pete LaVelle' KLCC's Back Porch.

The Bromberg Quintet (6) were all smokin' hot and Masters with their strings! Band featured greats from newest CD/LP "Big Road" and sprinkled in some old hits that were worked over and man, they raised the roof. See him if he comes to your town for this 50 years tour 72-2022. One of the many things I appreciate about Bromberg is his appreciation and respect for his band...it shows. Venue was great, audience were all friends we hadn't met yet.

Saw David & the tribe at Mineral Point, Wisconsin show. A magical show for the ages. Such talent. One of the best concerts I have ever been to. Keep up the really good work....

A marvelous, somewhat low-key show. A few minutes before the show started, I zipped to the men's room. A lotta AKs had the same idea. Five of us waiting for a urinal and two stalls. After a while, the non-handicapped stall opened and out stepped Bromberg, carrying some clothes on a hanger. "This is the dressing room they gave you?" the patron ahead of me asked. "No. They gave us one. But there are six of us." "Welcome to Minneapolis." At least, I thought as I stepped to a urinal, I won't miss the start of the show. Paul Siebel died that day, and David turned the show into a mini-tribute to Paul. They sang five or six of his songs, none of them "Louise" -- a couple that David recorded decades ago and a few that the band was just about workshopping onstage. It was marvelous. The concert was great. The opening warm up band was awesome. Too much talking at the tables during the concert by the people in the audience took some of the enjoyment from the experience

For me, Bromberg is at his absolute best when fronting the Big Band and assembling a team of special guests. This show was an excellent example. Bromberg on Nobody’s, the ageless Bettye LaVette on Things Have Changed, McEuen’s mandolin on Bojangles . . . all marvelous. A special nod to the guys behind the cameras, and the trio of backup singers were just terrific. Really fun show and my first live streaming event. Won’t be my last . . .

This was a great show! We have seen David many many times and this was one of the best. Terrific guest artists for the most part. Sound and picture quality of the livestream was excellent. David had good energy and enjoyed himself so we did, too. Could have used a little more focus on Mark Cosgrove. A splendid time was had by all.

A beautiful show. Lived for some 30 years near the Capitol Theatre (also a relative stone's throw from where David grew up), but had never gotten there. Glad to hear that he can still do a great turn on Gary White's "Nobody's." Also bracing to realize that David and his guest headliners are maybe a year older than me, but (obviously) vastly more talented and (ty, Betty LaVette) incredibly more energetic -- not to mention singing Dylan as he should be sung. And the camera work and direction were marvelous.

Superb afternoon! The film about David, “David Bromberg: Unsung Treasure” was delightfully enlightening. You should try to catch it. And the one man concert was unique and thrilling. The sort of experience that rarely comes along. Can’t wait to see him and his band in April in Waterville!

Lots of songs I hadn't heard before and or long time since David had played the songs. He brings a stellar cast with him always. Mark, Nate Josh and Suavek.

DB and his band were ON FIRE last night at The Bull Run in Shirley! It was a blues thing going on with the band this night, and they lit the stage up with some powerhouse playing by all concerned!! And, to put icing on the bluesy cake, Ronnie Earl joined the band for most of the night, and he played some mean licks as well. David B is simply having a great time playing, and the rest of the band is picking up that high energy and vibes and running with it. DB was smiling, laughing and just having a great time! I was so thrilled when Bromberg retuned to performing after a long hiatus learning how to make violins during the 80’s and 90’s, and into the 2000’s. He has definitely not lost a single note!!

Great concert , played some favorites like Sharon Mr Bojangles and some old songs from the 30s and one Robert Johnson (Kind Hearted Woman?0). Still a great guitar player!

Love DB and most all he's done. At 68 the man is still an awesome guitarist, sings great songs and is as funny as ever. Thoroughly enjoyed the intimacy of seeing him at such a great venue. KHeads is a favorite tho our local freight train antics (quite loud rolling by!) seemed to thro him for a loop - quite amusing - he said it was a first for him in 50 yrs of performing!
