The Ultrasonic Duo

The Ultrasonic Duo Described as an “eclectic hybrid of country folk and acoustic electric rock,” the music of the Ultrasonic Duo is filled with variety and originality. This popular act from La Crosse, Wisconsin featuring Don D. Harvey and Greg Grokowsky may sound like a high-energy dance band one minute and a laid-back vocal group the next. With no aspirations to be a loud, overpowering band, they are known as solid, versatile musicians with tremendous harmonies and smooth vocals. “For us it’s all about being as professional as possible while having a really good time.” Don D. Harvey Don and Greg were teaching high school across the hall from each other when they decided to take in a concert by Roger McGuinn of the Byrds. Both were influenced by the Byrds and realized they had many musical tastes in common. They decided to learn a few songs together, and six years later they have a large repertoire of original and cover songs. Greg often plays his Roger McGuinn Rickenbacker twelve-string guitar as they break into a classic Byrd’s song. Greg is also a master of the surf guitar genre, the 50’s and 60’s of Dick Dale and the Ventures. The recent Ultrasonic Duo CD “In the Moonlight” adds a touch of bluegrass to some great new material written by Don D. Harvey. From a previous album, his song “Technology Blues” won song of the year at the KVAMA (Larryfest) Songwriting contest in 2008. Quality originals and music form the 50's till today
