About Dividing The Element
Dividing The Element is a Zimbabwean heavy metal band from the city capital, Harare. The band was founded in 2012 by Chris Van and Sherlic White. After a few lineup changes over the years, the band settled on 5 members: Chris Van (guitar and vocals), Nick Newberry (drums), Mat Sanderson (bass), and Archie Chikoti (guitar) and Othnell ''Mangoma'' Moyo (percussion). The band initiative has been to instigate a metal scene within the country of Zimbabwe. As a result of this endeavor, over the years Dividing the Element has provided somewhat of a cultural exchange. Combining and incorporating elements of the metal sub-culture alongwith elements of Zimbabwe's own musical culture, a rather unique sound is produced at times.
