About The Cleopatra Complex

Once in a great while you meet somebody that seems a little different than the rest of us. They seem to walk in the glow of a personal spotlight and when you see that person on stage it all makes sense. So it is for Gia of The Cleopatra Complex. But talent and ”the it factor” do not guarantee you success as Gia will attest and it has been a long road for this young singer from Miami. Having spent time in several different projects it took a while to finally find her vehicle -The Cleopatra Complex. Taking in the ethnically and socially diverse sounds of her surroundings in South Florida have led to a project that is electronic, rock, reggae and at all times left of center. “Whatever I do I want to make the listener stop, listen, enjoy and feel like they just experienced something new” says Gia. “Music has always been the way for me to express myself” adds G., “When I first started writing over 10 years ago I used it to reflect and express myself privately. I started using music to simply cope and record experiences at the time. Writing has always been a very private thing so I enjoy being as out there, honest and as crazy as I want to be. I don't think about a song being released until it is. Working with long time co-writer, producer and partner in crime Paul Trust, TCC has begun to forge a name for itself in it’s brief existence. The band’s first single “Killing Time” has won an award for best music video at the iphone Film Festival and the band has been asked to perform at Macworld this coming year. The second video from the band’s initial release is entitled “Need A Girl”. Gia: “The song just came without thinking, like I always write and Paul was very supportive about the song. I’m not trying to cash in on my sexuality but I’m not going to hide it either.” But Gia adds: “I want my music to be liked by gay, straight, black, white. You don’t have to be part of a category to like my songs”. The band has just signed with Dirk Hemsath of The Working Group Artist Management (All American Rejects, Never Shout Never, The Ready Set) and big plans are on the horizon.
