About Misses Bitches

Misses Bitches formed in the fall of 2012 at Littletree Orchards in Newfield, NY out of members from other local acts including We Are Whaleshark, The Realbads, The Andersons, Mutsu, and others. The original goal was simply to enter the first Finger Lakes Battle of the Girl Bands at The Haunt in Ithaca. MB ended up taking home the prize of "audience favorite," gaining more than half of the available votes in competition with 12 other acts at the sold-out event. This victory led to MB's second show ever being another sold-out event at The Haunt opening for regional favorites The Blind Spots. Since their formation and debut in the winter of 2011/2012, MB have wowed audiences around Tompkins County and New York State with their blend of catchy melodies (backed up by impeccable three- and four-part vocal harmonies), punk-influenced energy and drive, and willingness to reach for the cosmos with psychedelic experimentation. Misses Bitches have been known to play in a variety of settings from bars and other "official" venues to DIY spaces and festivals. The band has self-released one CD of live recordings entitled "Live on WVBR," recorded on air on 93.5 FM WVBR in Ithaca, with art work by Gina "Catfish" Matejka. Recently, the band has entered a collaborative relationship with another powerhouse local act, the theatrical freak-funk force known as The Newman Brothers. Spring of 2015 will see a split-single release with the two bands on local record label Angry Mom Records. Powerful female fronted folk-punk-rock band with array of musical backgrounds, our sound is charged yet warm and inviting with haunting 3 part harmonies
