Amina Annabi

The sensual voice of Amina Annabi has earned her global acclaim as an icon of musical multiculturalism, fusing her traditional Arab roots with contemporary Western sounds. Born in Carthage, Tunisia, Amina moved with her family to France at the age of 13. The underground Paris scene in the early 80's proved fertile ground for her innovative mix of music styles, from world-music infused rap to sultry Billie Holliday covers. 1991 brought international success with "C'est le dernier qui a parlé", her much-loved Eurovision entry for France which tied at the top of the voting table alongside (eventual count-back winners) Sweden. Amina's collaborators have included Afrika Bambaata, Nigel Kennedy, Malcolm McLaren, Christophe & Asian Dub Foundation.
