In delicate remembrance of brothas James Baldwins memory and legacy as a freedom fighter Meshell Ndegeocello and her ensemble's performance was both viscerally and intellectually triumphant! I've wanted to see this beautifully awesome Blackwoman and her sonically soothing but furious talent unleashed live for many years now and the dear sistah did not disappoint! Treat yourself / loved ones to something splendid and just go. Just go.

An absolutely beautiful & amazing experience. This was music, art, poetry, conversation, and
family combined. Sooo glad I was there. It was more than I expected and she always gives of
herself i a different way each time see her. Thank you Me'Shell!!

Such an uplifting and inspiring experience. Meshell and her incredible band of poets and musicians brought something much more intimate than many may have expected. We left empowered and at peace knowing that they managed to bring us together on a spiritual level. 🙌🏾

Me’shell mused about this..but truly her concert was a spiritual experience! The crowd could feel all the positive energy coming from the stage. The incredible band behind Me’shell played new songs from her latest Grammy Winning release but also added fan favorites from older LPs including “Atomic Dog,” “Grace” from the phenomenal LP “Bitter” and my favorite song of all time..”Outside your door”. It was a magical performance!!!

I’ve seen this show three times now. Love her dearly. This particular show was the absolute best. The groove was so hard. Deep in the pocket.. EXCELLENT show..

Justin Hicks opened the show and his full, velvet voice brought tears to my eyes. His genius is palpable. Meshell and the band snuck onto the stage with him so much humility and spent the next hour and a half jamming. What an amazing group of performers. Meshell is a force of nature, a consummate master of her craft and a true inspiration to anyone who loves music and the arts. ❤️🙏

As always, Meshell Ndegeocello presented carefully curated poetic artistry and sonic genius to her audience. Meshell’s understated giant of a presence quietly filled Thalia Hall with a few laughs, love, and acoustic embraces that hugged our souls. Her set list spanned several albums, including, “Plantation Lullabies” and “Comfort Woman,” somewhat of rare treat to experience. The star of the show was of course her latest album, “The Omnichord Real Book.” She performed several songs from the jam-packed 18-track album. One of those brilliant compositions was the aurally pristine, and transportive song, “The 5th Dimension.” The song calls for all of us to ascend into a state of “humble love.” It was a beautiful experience. As always.

It was one of the most phenomenal performances that I have ever seen. Her music was soul nurturing! The band was musically spot on …some of the best musicians on the planet! And to top it all off.. Meshell at the end of the performance came to the edge of the stage and shook hands with all that could get to the front row. The whole show was mind blowing!

It was short a little over a hour. I enjoyed the music. She and her band were great! I was disappointed they didn’t bring cds. I saw one man got a poster signed by her. Hope she comes again and prepared to here how much we appreciated her.
The band was tight but the house sound was a little off. Hopefully they will check that in the future at the venue.
After all the years I finally got to see her live and followed her for decades. She’s a spiritual force with the voice and musicality to transcend any audience.

There is nothing Meshell performs and it is not spectacular. Her performance and music was amazing. I traveled 790 miles, from Chicago, to see her. Unfortunately, I missed most of the performance, but the small part I did see made the trip worth it. I can't wait to travel to another city to see her next year.

It’s the morning after and I’m still basking in the afterglow of an incredible night of insatiable sound!! Once again, the incomparable Meshell Ndegeocello and band gave us a night we’re not soon to forget. Hearing her perform both new and classic gems on a beautiful summer night under the stars at the Ford Amphitheatre was THE highlight of my summer. Thank you, Meshell!! You just get better with time.

Great show by Meshell and her ensemble cast. The performance incorporated not only live music performance but also spoken word and excerpts from speeches by James Baldwin

I just witnessed musical Black Brilliance tonight. MeShell and her band didn’t just take us the church, she turned us into one. What I heard was an alchemic rhapsody rooted in the soil of Black music enriched by a legacy that not many artists can respectfully pay homage to.
James Baldwin, if you’re reading this, MeShell brought the fire this time. Legendary sh1t.

She was amazing. The opening act was a little out there but it was a great time. Thank you for the encore. Looking forward to the new album.

Meshell is one with her music. I was moved to tears as she played songs that had carried me through so many memories and hardships over these 20 years. She has brought such joy to my soul & I am grateful to have her music in my life. Thank you, Meshell.

Had no idea what to expect but as totally blown away by the show which had the makeup of a performance suited for a smaller more intimate venue but went over very well at The Kennedy Center!
It didn’t hurt having Stacey Ann Chin as part of the ensemble to bring the message being conveyed by Meshell and the other vocalists home with gritty spoken word prowess as only she could deliver!
As expected, the musicianship of her band was superb. It’s ability to paint a primal picture, at times melancholy then exuberant, of the theme implied by the production’s title ‘The Fire Next Time: The Gospel According To James Baldwin’, mesmerized the audience so that you were forced to sit silently and listen intensely or get up and dance a jig at the invitation of the performers.
Anyone who didn’t feel inspired enough to get involved in social justice issues on some level after witnessing this show had to be comatose! And that’s why I’m looking forward to a recording being made available to share with those who couldn’t make it to the revolution unleashed last night!!

I throughly enjoyed it. It was first time seeing her and I was pleasantly surprised at the theme of the concert. I only wished I could have heard some of her previous songs

I honestly wasn't expecting much from this show. Then she came on stage and totally deconstructed me. Destroyed me. What's strange is that I never more happy to let someone do that. I hope it's the first of many times. Thank you.

Amazing concert!!! She and her band were absolutely phenomenal. The Wexner Center, however, was the wrong venue. There was no seating and it was not advertised as a standing room only. The artist didn’t even know that it was no seating. Standing for almost 2 hours was a bit much for the crowd that was there.

Amazing. Saw her 10 years ago. She was great then, but you can really see her maturity in performing. She interacted more with audience, really made it an incredible show.
