The Australian legend Nick Cave once again delivered, proving in life-affirming fashion that he, along with The Bad Seeds, is still not to be missed when they're in the area.
This time, the band was supported by four backing singers dressed in gospel-like robes, further reinforcing Cave's image as a preacher of rock – a brand he's made his own.
The choir elevated the already hymn-like songs, particularly in 'Frogs' and 'Conversion', which, with full-on gospel vibes, stood out as climactic moments.
Nick Cave and The Bad Seeds filled Royal Arena with both thunderous, massive crescendos and touching, heartfelt moments. We got to experience the full range of Cave as both a songwriter and live performer – from close physical contact with the audience at the edge of the stage to quiet moments at the piano.
One of the most moving moments was the performance of 'Joy', a song from the new album.
While the crowd cheered during the powerful songs, a reverent atmosphere lingered during the pauses, where the respect for Cave and his authority on stage was palpable.
The evening fittingly ended with a subdued sing-along, with Cave alone at the piano performing 'Into My Arms'. After two and a half hours in the company of an icon who still has so much to offer, we hope retirement is far in the future."
In short: Nick Cave and The Bad Seeds, supported by a choir with gospel vibes, filled Royal Arena with both thunderous crescendos and touching moments. An icon who still has much to give.
The last star is half - only because the sound was in periods ruined by a load echo from the drums, from the other side of the arena.

The show focused on the music and the sound was quality, especially at floor level; enough bass to rattle your ribcage. The encore lasted another good half hour. Solid gig!

About Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds
Nick Cave & the Bad Seeds are one of the world’s most exciting, influential, innovative and compelling bands. Driven by a continuous creative evolution, their music displays a diverse, often contradictory range of styles. Across 18 studio albums, from 1984’s From Her to Eternity to 2024’s Wild God, they have consistently reinvented their sound, with Cave considering it as their “solemn duty to turn against what has gone before”. Wild God is an album that reveals its charms swiftly and its secrets slowly. While there may be moments that touch fondly upon the Bad Seeds’ past, they are fleeting, and serve only to imbue the relentless and restless forward motion of the band. As a live band Nick Cave & the Bad Seeds are one of most thrilling acts to ever take to the stage. With powerful live performances that resonate more deeply that any other show you will see, they are continually called upon to headline major European festivals, and tour extensively in Australia and North and South America.
