LADIES FIRST 2016 - We Are All Immigrants.

We are thrilled to invite you to the 5th produciton of our LF series: Laides First - We're All Immigrants.

Please join us for a festive evening of music, multimedia and celebration of divesity that enriches our society and arts context through immigrants and immigration.

An evening of music and discussion honoring women who have contributed to their perspective fields, our concert this year features composers Tania Leon, Kamala Sankaram, and Jessica Meyer as well as percussionist Valerie Naranjo, Saturday Night Live's only female house band member for the past 2 decades, among others

Ladies First 2014 production draws from the fascinating connection between sports and music. In our upcoming production, Ladies First will offer a personal reflection on various aspects of this connection, from comparative performance of the musical piece with a football (soccer) match through explorations of sports which are traditionally performed and rehearsed to music–such as ice skating, gymnastics, and capoeira, to setting music to a live beat of a ping pong match, and much more. It will be an evening-long celebration of the two not-so-different performance forms which touch so many lives around the globe through the universal language of passion and lifelong commitment. LADIES FIRST 2013's program featured works by Robert Aldridge, Lynn Bechtold, Svjetlana Bukvich, Dan Cooper, Antonin Dvorak, Herschel Garfein, Ge Gan-Ru, Scott Gendel, Marika Hughes, Veronika Krausas, Milica Paranosic, and Gene Pritsker. Our writers were Peter Christian Hall, Gersende Rambourg, Corinne Ramey, Christine Romo, Quintan Ana Wikswo, and Adina Williams.
