Masha Mayer

MASHA MAYER is the phenomenal female drummer based in NYC. Hailing from Russia (Siberia), Mayer started with a great appreciation of classical music, which was passed down from her family. Surrounded by music and musicians, it is no surprise that young Masha would be taken by what her ears had experienced. Originally a classically trained piano player, who also attended music school for 6 years in her hometown, she did not always plan on playing Rock n’ Roll. A true musician at heart, her story is not only one of a kind, but intriguing as well. With 500 dollars, a plane ticket to New York from Moscow, and a dream, Masha was determined to make her mark in music history. Starting over in a new country was not the easiest thing to do, as finding a job, learning English, and dealing with immigration sometimes got in the way at first. Mayer kept focused, and even though sometimes she felt discouraged, she never gave up. Starting her U.S. career playing around the country with various bands, and frequenting NYC hotspots such as the Highline Ballroom, Mercury Lounge, Knitting Factory, Bitter End, among many others.
