About Black Like Vengeance

“This band totally rule live!” - Blunt Magazine “[Empty As The Day] This is a release that’s rock solid and uncompromising... Throw up the horns and bang your fucking head!” -Kill Your Stereo “An expert mixture of melodic death and straight up thrash. Brutal drumming, excellent guitar work and great solos. Black Like Vengeance, along with Double Dragon, will lead an Australian Metal Revolution.” - Heavy Metal Nation “So sickeningly heavy it’s untrue!” - Planet Loud “[Empty As The Day] Drifting from angelically clean sung passages to all out blackened screams, Sheri certainly has a talent out front that more than befits the group’s abilities on the musical front... great ascending riff structures... great lead work... Black Like Vengeance is a group to keep an eye out for.” - The Metal Forge “[Empty as The Day] Furious female vocals, primal drumming beats, doom laden base, precision ryhthm guitars and leads so fast it reminds you of those days in the 80s when new metal was all about how fast and complex you could be. Sheri’s singing makes the likes of Angela Gossaw look one dimensional in comparison... there can be no doubt that in a few short years, Black Like Vengeance will be the standard to which all new-comers are compared.” - Heavy Metal Nation “[All Has Blackened] ‘Like A Coma’ features great ascending riff structures near the midpoint and some incredible lead work at the tail end, while the shorter, savage title track and closing number is one of the EP’s strongest cuts. What Black Like Vengeance does better than other acts is write some interesting songs within the genre’s framework.“ - Blistering After an extensive period of hibernation, the beast has risen once again to stake its rightful claim as Australia's premiere female-fronted melodic death metal band. 2013 heralds the dawn of a new era for Melbourne's Black Like Vengeance. Since their inception in '05, they've stunned audiences from coast to coast with their grim elixir of ‘Scandistralian’ metal - best exemplified by their debut record Empty As The Day, produced by Roman Koester at Complex Studios (Psycroptic, I Killed The Prom Queen, Deez Nuts). In 2011 the 3rd track on their full length Snuff Is My Business was featured on the gruesome motion picture The Loved Ones and its original soundtrack. The searing musicianship of guitarists Martin Kawaler and Drew Hanley, drummer Juan Rueda and frontwoman Sheri "Vengeance" Tantawy guarantee the quintet continue to stand out. With a focus on technical creativity that is bludgeoning in its intensity yet sorrowfully melodic and laden with infectious hooks, the band's music has traversed international boundaries - earning them recognition worldwide amongst fans and pioneers of heavy music; “Hey, you’re the chick that screams right? Brutal!” –Bjorn Strid, Soilwork “Are you sure you don’t have balls down there?” –Janne Warman, Children of Bodom A miasmic onslaught of crushing riffs, shredding leads, merciless drumming and the alternate beauty and brutality of Sheri’s voice, fans of Arch Enemy, Soilwork, and Lamb of God weep blackened tears of joy. Black Like Vengeance now welcome bass player Phil Cheplik into the horde as they make preparations for their first show in three years at Adelaide's New Dead Fest and a second album titled Noir set for release in 2015.
