Crystal and Runnin' Wild

Born in Brussels, Crystal grew up in a home filled with Country music, Soul, Doo Wop, Rock'n'Roll and of course Rockabilly. At the age of 16 she first set foot on stage, singing with Belgian Rockabilly band Runnin' Wild. This band, consisting of Patrick Ouchêne (vox/guitars), Johnny Trash (drums/vox) and Lenn Dauphin (double bass) are already touring the world for over 20 years with their particular Roots/Rockabilly sound. In that time they recorded 7 albums. But now they decide to use their experience to support the very promising new talent, which is Crystal. And so 2012 sees the birth of Crystal & Runnin' Wild, a band that starts to tour Europe immediately (Belgium of course, but also Germany, Holland, Spain, France and even Russia). One of the highlights was their performance in front of an audience of more than 5000 people at the Brussels Summer Festival, where they meet Steve McKay of Iggy & The Stooges fame. McKay is impressed by Crystal's version of their Punk classic "Search And Destroy", and joins the band in the studio to record an alternative version of the song, they had previously recorded on their first demo. Even only 21, Crystal has a very mature and powerful voice, which is clearly demonstrated on the first EP, which was released in April 2013. On this 6-song-CD she surfs between the different sides of her musical personality, combining the high power energy of Iggy & The Stooges with the intense sensuality of Etta James.

Née à Bruxelles, Crystal a toute son enfance été bercée par la Country, la Soul, le Doo wop, le rockabilly et le rock n’ roll.

Elle fait ses premières apparitions sur scène à l’âge de 16 ans, avec le groupe rockabilly Runnin’ Wild. Ce groupe composé de Patrick Ouchene (voix/ guitare), Johnny Trash (batterie/ voix) et Lenn Dauphin (contrebasse) ont parcouru le monde pendant plus de vingt ans en parfait représentant de la culture roots/rockabilly. Après avoir enregistré sept albums, ils décident de mettre leurs expériences au profit de la prometteuse Crystal.

En 2012, se crée « Crystal and Runnin Wild » et enchaîne festivals et concerts à travers le monde (Allemagne, Hollande, Espagne, France et Russie). Elle a notamment chanté devant plus de 5000 personnes, sur la scène du Brussel Summer Festival lors de l’édition 2012, à cette occasion elle rencontre Steve McKay des Stooges qui séduit par son interprétation du classique rock « Search and Destroy », la sollicite pour en enregistrer une version inédite.

Du haut de ses 20 ans, Crystal c’est avant tout une voix électrisante et une interprétation impressionnante qui étonne par sa maturité. Dans son premier EP à découvrir de toute urgence, sorti début avril 2013, elle dévoile les multiples facettes de sa personnalité musicale qui s’inspire aussi bien des rythmes déchainés d’Iggy Pop and the Stoogesque de la sensibilité exacerbée d’Etta James.

Ihre erste Bühnenerfahrung sammelte sie im Alter von 16 Jahren mit der belgischen Rockabillyband Runnin' Wild. Diese Gruppe, bestehend aus Patrick Ouchêne (Gesang/ Gitarre), Johnny Trash (Drums/ Gesang) und Lenn Dauphin (Kontrabass), ist seit über 20 Jahren mit ihrem besonderen Roots-/ Rockabillysound in der Welt unterwegs. Nach ihrem siebenten Album beschlossen sie ihre Erfahrung zu nutzen, um ein neues, vielversprechendes Talent zu unterstützen: Crystal.

2012 wurde "Crystal and Runnin' Wild" geboren und man begann durch Europa zu touren (Belgien, Deutschland, Frankreich, Spanien und sogar Russland). Einer der Höhepunkte war ihr Auftritt beim Brüsseler Summer Festival vor 5000 Leuten. Dort trafen sie auf Steve McKay der Band The Stooges, der von Crystals Interpretation des Rockklassikers "Search and destroy" so begeistert war, dass er mit der Band an einer Studioaufnahme arbeitete.

Die erst 21-jährige Crystal besitzt bereits jetzt eine reife und starke Stimme, die sie ihren Fans eindrucksvoll auf dem ersten Album von 2013 zur Schau stellt. Sie präsentiert darauf die ganze Facette ihrer musikalischen Persönlichkeit, deren Spektrum die kraftvolle Energie von Iggy & the Stooges bis hin zur intensiven Sinnlichkeit von Etta James umfasst.
