About The Jensen Sisters
The place Kendra and Kansas Jensen feel most like themselves is in front of a crowd, lost in their song lyrics. Whether it’s a cover or an original, the perfectly-blended voices of these young country singers get inside of you and somehow take you with them.
At just 16 and 19 years of age, these small-town, free-spirited sisters are hitting the road destined for bigger things with the recent release of their debut EP entitled Highway Hippie. The 6 song “mini album” as they like to call it shot straight to the top of the iTunes Charts this May, peeking as the 10th most pre-ordered Country Album at the time. The Jensen Sisters found themselves sharing the spotlight with music from their idols, including names such as Willie Nelson and Eric Church
With a population of less than 200 people, Goodridge, Minnesota is home to The Jensen Sisters. In an interview with Female Music Nation the girls spoke on their small-town roots saying, “It’s given us a unique outlook on life, and we couldn’t imagine growing up in any other place.” It’s the place that has built their strong foundation; it’s also the place that gave them their first stage. Nervous and unsure, Kendra and Kansas entered their high school talent show four years ago. Never having sang in public, taking the crowd by complete surprise they debuted with “Good Hearted Woman” by Waylon Jennings.
No one (including them) knew at the time that singing that one song back in 2015 would ignite a passion inside both of them that would change the course of their lives for good. Since then, the girls have started hosting their own radio show called “Gypsy Outlaw” on KSRQ Pioneer 90.1, launched a successful clothing collection with the Simply Boutique, toured across the entire upper Midwest, and in the midst of everything; have managed to grow an impressive fanbase they are proud to call family. On the topic they say this:
“Its so crazy, because we never planned any of it. The folks who believe in us have fueled this flame since day one and because of that we’ve made it our personal mission to see them through, and to give this wild dream a fair chase.”
And that they are, Kendra and Kansas are set out to captivate audiences with their new wave retro country sound, leaving no stone left unturned along the way. The Jensen Sisters are currently the best kept secret in country music, letting their close-knit fans in on a talent the world will come to know at a later date. With The Jensen Sisters, their roots go deep, their branches go high, and it’s easy to see big things on the horizon for these up and coming artists.
