About Christopher Wright
Hailing from the Piney Woods of East Texas, Wright began playing guitar and writing music at the age of eleven, using music as a much-needed escape from the turbulence of his fractured family. As a teenager, he found inspiration in an eclectic mix of genres—drawing from the raw, rebellious spirit of country outlaws and Southern storytelling, the grit of Seattle grunge, and the rhythmic edge of urban hip-hop. This fusion of styles would become the foundation of Wright’s distinctive musical identity, one that continues to evolve with every song he writes.
By the time he reached college, Wright's life had become a whirlwind of good times and trouble. Struggling with addiction and frequent run-ins with the law, his path eventually took a turn. After spending time in county jail, he developed a deeper appreciation for the things he was on the verge of losing.
In 2016, Wright was diagnosed with acute liver failure. It was during this life-altering period that he made the decision to get sober. Reinvigorated by his newfound clarity, he reignited his passion for music and soon began performing professionally.
Nine years after his health scare, Wright marks a significant chapter in his musical evolution with the release of his debut album, ‘the other side.’ With raw, introspective lyrics and a mix of Americana, bluesy rock, soulful ballads and gritty anthems, ‘the other side’ tells Wright's story of transformation, offering both vulnerability and strength through exceptional songcraft deeply rooted in authenticity.
