About Daniele Luppi

Daniele Luppi has spent the last decade quietly making his mark upon the landscape of popular music, with his sophisticated, sleekly modern and wonderfully timeless sound. An Emmy-nominated composer, record producer and arranger, Luppi recently released what may be the most ambitious yet accessible work of his career to date: “Rome”, a defiantly analog album that took five years to perfect. On “Rome”, Luppi and musical auteur Danger Mouse collaborated on a star-studded love letter to classic Italian film scores. Recorded in the Eternal City, the critically-acclaimed album features the vocal talents of Norah Jones and the White Stripes’ Jack White, along with instrumental and vocal contributions from some of Italy’s most legendary session musicians. Luppi’s film work includes: the “bikesploitation”-style score for “Hell Ride”, the Quentin Tarantino-produced tale of motorcycle revenge and retribution; the dark, electronic score for the twisted high school comedy “Assassination of a High School President”, starring Bruce Willis; and the evocative orchestral score for the award-winning indie film “Malos Habitos (Bad Habits)”. His TV projects include the main theme for NETFLIX’s “Marco Polo” and the score and main titles to STARZ’s “Magic City”, both of which earned him a prime-time Emmy nomination for Outstanding Original Main Title Theme Music. Luppi’s innovative arrangements can also be heard on: “The Getaway”, Red Hot Chilli Peppers’ new album; “St. Elsewhere”, Gnarls Barkley’s breakthrough debut album; the mysterious “Dark Night of the Soul” album (with contributions from David Lynch, Julian Casablancas of The Strokes, and Iggy Pop, among others), and the celebrated self-titled debut album from Broken Bells. Luppi has also contributed string arrangements to: Depeche Mode’s Dave Gahan solo projects "Angels and Ghosts" and “The Light the Dead See”; John Legend’s chart-topping R&B album “Once Again”; and he has collaborated with legendary Faith No More/Mr. Bungle frontman Mike Patton on the “Mondo Cane” recording and concert opus. His music has been featured in films such as: the animated smash hit “The LEGO Movie”; the Denzel Washington and Mark Wahlberg vehicle “Two Guns”; the Oscar-nominated “Nine”, directed by Rob Marshall and starring Daniel Day-Lewis and Penelope Cruz; as well as several noteworthy TV series such as “Breaking Bad”, “How to make it in America” and HBO’s “Sex & The City”.
