About Two Years Later
email : info@twoyearslatertheband.com Jamie Rogers met Zak Toth in 2011, at a local open mic night. They hit it off, but nothing came of it. They went their separate ways, but found themselves back in the same town in 2013, and were re-introduced by a mutual friend. After bonding over their mutual love of music, Jamie invited Zak to drum on the songs she'd been spending the last few years working on. They clicked musically, and decided to formally start a band, naming it Two Years Later, after the gap between first meeting and re-connecting. Two Years Later spent much of the next year playing shows all throughout the state of Ohio, both as support for touring musicians as well as local headliners. They began to gain a following, and in the spring of 2014 they decided to record their first EP, titled #Road2Fame, released in September of that year. The five song debut offering showcased multiple styles found in 2YL's live show, and taking a playful look at “hashtag culture” prevalent in the modern music scene. With their first album in hand they continued to play throughout the state, venturing as far as Louisville, Kentucky. As they toured they began to refine their sound, with percussive punk instrumentation and catchy pop melodies. As they honed their sonic style they also blossomed as band, their songwriting process becoming more collaborative. They continued to fine tune songs, both previously written by Jamie, as well as new, tandem work. As 2YL entered 2015 they decided to take a brief break from performing live, in an effort to revise their live show, as well as focus on their new material. They were shortly approached by local promoter “Platinum” Mike Folker, who asked them to perform monthly at the Creme De La Femme show at The Blue Pickle Pub (Formerly Porters). They accepted, using it as a platform to introduce the new and improved Two Years Later to the Columbus music scene. As 2015 went on they continued honing their show, and began preparation for their sophomore effort, the Dropping Anchor EP. A more cohesive and focused effort, Dropping Anchor represents who Two Years Later is, both lyrically and sonically. It is due for release in early 2016, and 2YL will be playing sporadic dates in support of it. Plans for a first full-length are also in the works, perhaps coming as early as the second half of 2016.
