Misty Edwards

Misty Edwards is an active leader at the International House Of Prayer (IHOP) in Kansas City, which is a Ministry launched by Mike Bickle, former pastor of Metro Christian Fellowship; formerly known as Kansas City Fellowship or (briefly) as Metro Vineyard Fellowship.

Her music works standalone, but even more so if you understand what IHOP is all about. They have had 24/7/365 prayer, worship and fasting since September 19, 1999.

The worship team will play softly, singing worship songs for a time, someone will go to the mic and begin to pray a bit, the singers will often begin to ad lib along with the prayers, and the music will build and release in unison with the prayers offered. Very free flowing, and each of the teams plays in 2 hour sets.

So then, much of the music Misty writes or sings comes from these long prayer/worship sessions.

According to Mike Bickle, she was spending so much time in the prayer room he finally got concerned about it and urged her to get out and "go see a movie or something."
