Jo James

Jo James makes Americana, Soul, and Blues out of Austin, Texas , music that sounds like it was forged, not manufactured. His voice carries grit and warmth in equal measure, and his songs sit where blues-rock authority meets the kind of songwriting that refuses to pretend life is
easier than it is. Raised in Perris, California, James grew up inside a small church where he learned the lesson that has governed everything he's made since: sincerity lands harder than perfection. He's been proving it ever since. His 2023 album Found My Way, released with a
sold out show at Austin's legendary Antone's Nightclub, established him as a genuine voice in American roots music. Standout single "Beautiful Soul" became a live staple, later re-recorded with vocalist Aubrey Logan for his 2025 Live at Purple Bee album. His single "Peace of Mind" (Feb 2025) drew independent press from COjam/The National Jam Coalition, A&R Factory, and Buzzslayers, who each called out the raw vocal power and blues rock authority of the track.
Live, he creates rooms where people stop performing being an audience and start actually
listening. "I tell the truth in my songs, and somehow those songs make people feel less alone."
