Joyce "Fenderella" Irby

Joyce “Fenderella” Irby is an American born singer/songwriter/bass player and talent developer currently residing in Atlanta, GA. Joyce’s early career was spent in Los Angeles as a member of the 80’s all girl band Klymaxx. Joyce was the lead singer on 3 of Klymaxx’s 4 biggest records, including their biggest hit “I Miss You”. Joyce also composed the music to the group's first hit single, "The Men All Pause".

“I’d Still Say Yes” is not only the classic top 20 pop single, which Joyce sang w/ Shalamar’s Howard Hewett and produced on Klymaxx, but it’s the name of her new memoir, which chronicles her adventures as an architect of musical Atlanta. "I'd Still Say Yes" is available on Amazon.

80s: Pre-Klymaxx, Joyce spent time being nurtured and learning from her mentor, George Clinton. She then became one of the first female solo MCs to chart nationally with her 1980 “Wild and Crazzy Song” by Fenderella on Miami’s TK records.

90s: Joyce relocated to Atlanta and formed a production & publishing company, (Diva One) and signed a 16 year old writer/producer, Dallas Austin. Joyce signed and developed other talent in Atlanta including, 13 year old platinum selling, Capital Records artist “Sammie”. In 2004 Joyce’s 18 year old signee, Lloyd, broke w/ his debut single “Southside” featuring Ashante, on Irv Gotti’s Murder Inc./Def Jam label. Joyce also signed multi-platinum writer/producer Jasper Cameron, who’s credits include, Young Money, Christina Aguilera, Ciara & Lloyd.

2012: Joyce won an ASCAP songwriter award for co-penning one of the most played Urban records in the US, a top 5 single, "Another Round” by Fat Joe, Chris Brown and Mary J Blige.

2014: BET profiled Irby as one of a dozen women in “Unsung Hitmakers: Female Music Producers.” Joyce had early success as a writer /producer w/ Klymaxx, Shalamar, Sammie, Lloyd & Troop.

2019: Joyce was honored with a proclamation from the Atlanta City Council. As a major contributor to Atlanta's rise in music industry stature, Joyce is considered by many to be "the wind beneath the wings", of Atlanta's urban music scene as described by Councilman Michael Julian Bond during the presentation. In the late 80’s Joyce solicited Atlanta as a base for major record companies and top producers Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis and also LA & Babyface. Joyce’s music publishing company, "Diva One Music" has songs with sales of over 20 million, including hits by TLC, Chris Brown, Boyz II Men, Shalamar, Fat Joe, Klymaxx, Troop, and more.

2022: Joyce is touring with her group “Klymaxx w/ Joyce Fenderella Irby”, while writing, producing and recording new music. She founded a new company “$he Too” Brands, to advocate fairness and equity for women in business. She has created another music group the "Femme Mafia". And Joyce continues to work with animals, study science, and promote music as a tool for healing.
