DJ Hurricane

Hurricane began his interest in Djing like most Djs playing around with the family stereo and listening to the record collection which his parents had collected over the years. From there he became an avid collector of music, all genres, it made no difference as he had a love for all music. He came across a Dj one night in a Wellington Night Club in ’95 which blew his mind, so he approached him and asked if he could show him a few things and that is where it all began. 15 years later, Hurricane has explored many genres from R’n’B, Hip-hop, Reggae, House, Electro, Drum’n’Bass to Dubstep and has played all major clubs in wellington and the Hawkes bay regions. He has also played alongside Major NZ Dj’s Raw, Manchoo, CXL, PMONEY, MtEden Dubstep, J Star, Taniwha Bassline, HBK, SolaRosa, Optimus Gryme, Katchafire, House of Shem, Kids of 88, Ladi 6, J Williams, Cornerstone Roots, Shaggy, Dei Hamo, State of Mind, Concord Dawn, too name a few in recent times. In 2004 Hurricane moved to the Bay and became Resident at Shed 2 where he brought his funky styled house and began the stylish Caution Bar.In 2007 Hurricane was employed at The Thirsty Whale where he took a back room in the Nite spot and Turned it into the well know Harpoon Room, known to everyone in the bay as the place to go to hear hard floor filling anthems. In 2008 Hurricane teamed up with Blake Reid to create the back to back Electronica styled Vinyl Junkiez whose electro style is bound to get crowd’s moving and Shaking like you wouldn’t believe. 2010 seen Hurricane team up with the Mighty Rob C and new comer One2 and started the group called Future Bass Therapy who’s jaw line breaking Bass sounds have been tearing apart the Napier club scene for almost 2 years now and this year see’s the trio heading to new highs. now 2012 after a short stint on BayFM radio Hurricane and ONE2 created the hugely popular SWAGGER SHOW which at present has seen the 2 turn the radio show into a Live performance that has to be seen to believed At the moment Hurricane holds down 2 residences 1 at the hugely popular Turks Bar where he created the well-known Thursday Night Thumpers and @ the hugely popular Diva Bar & Bristro every second Saturday, He also holds a number of out of town clubnites where plays a once a month regular gigs where he brings his floor shaking, gut moving, dirty baseline dropping electro and r'n'b most weekends.
