A light flashes. A single string resounds, spilling into the darkness its reverberations. From the recently broken silence, two voices emerge, shrouded in mystery and singing in tight harmony. Youthful yet wise, searching yet confident, they blend into one soulful song – the song of Youngest Daughter. Descendant from a rich tradition of folk duos, Beta Pop and Anna Flautt of Youngest Daughter bring to life a vintage era, one full of whimsy, populated by dreams, and reminiscent of the days when simple songs, sung compellingly, told the stories of life. By re-enforcing the singer/songwriter genre with R&B stylings and a few of the trappings of pop, they have created a modern incarnation of folk that still pays homage to its lineage while adding enough flavor that the kids will like it too. In a pared down iteration, portable enough for raucous house shows and the occasional wine and cheese party, as well as in their full band form, Youngest Daughter completely strips down the lyrics and vocals, letting the music talk for itself.
