Excellent opening act in Steve Winwood who opened the show with Traffic’s Glad from John Barelycorn Must Die, an unexpected treat. After a video piece explaining how he got the rights to his music back, John and the band came out on fire with Bad Moon Rising and Up Around the Bend. How an 80 year old man kept up that pace through the entire concert is beyond me. This concert was even better than the one in Saratoga two years ago.

John Fogerty is my ll year old son’s hero. My son, Fuzzy, knows every song CCR and John Fogerty ever recorded. I took him to this concert and it was incredible! For years, my son has been playing CCR songs for us on his guitar in the living room. Getting to see this American legend perform live was the opportunity of a lifetime! Thank you so much for putting on this concert! It meant the world to my son! John may not know this but his legacy reaches far beyond his own family and into future generations.

Oh my goodness, the listening party was an absolute blast! I had no idea what to expect. I thought it would just be a link to listen to the album, but boy, was I wrong! It was like stepping into a whole new world of music and conversation. We chatted with fans from all over the globe, and it was so cool to hear their excitement. Then, out of nowhere, the admin popped up again. I thought it was just another admin from fandom, but guess what? It was John’s wife, Julie! Can you believe it? She announced that John and Shane would be joining us at the party, and that was the cherry on top! John was so happy to have us there and said that we were the first people to hear this album. I mean, can you imagine? We were the first people to listen to the new album! The room was lifted to new heights as Shane joined us. They were chatting with us and answering all our questions. It was an experience like no other. I can’t thank John, Julie, and Shane enough for hanging out with us and sharing their incredible music with us. It was truly magical! Loved the listening party! I had heard snippets of a few of the Legacy re-recorded songs, but was blown away by the entire album. The intro (and outro) on 'Run Through The Jungle' is phenomenal, even better than the original, and I'm something of a purist when it comes to anything CCR. Shane mentioned to me that this was the last song recorded for the album and the great fun he had with it. Bob Clearmountain did his magic throughout behind the console. At 80 years young, John still has the pipes and the power to sing in the same key as when he was 23, and hit it spot on! Every time. That mature and pleasantly world-worn warmth to his voice really stands out on many of my forever favorite tracks. 'Wrote A Song For Everyone', 'Porterville', and 'Don't Look Now' all benefit from this additional timbre in their new treatment, but none so much as 'Someday Never Comes'. It was a song that made me cry for the sadness and resignation in his voice when I first heard it as a 15 year-old empath and lover of all things CCR in May 1972, aching for the hurt and disappointment that came through the radio waves on that first listen. The Legacy version far surpasses the first, now conveying a life lesson softened by the fullness of time and a legacy well-lived, sung by someone well-seasoned, but never beaten, in experiencing life's peaks and valleys. Not only redeemed, but revived! I hope to see this 2-album set at the top of the Billboard charts. Legacy is that good! Now, John (and I say this with love and affection for your genius and talent)...how about another BRR album, maybe called 'Third Time Around', and include 'Cross-Tie Walker', 'Looking For A Reason', 'Back In The Hills', and more of your favorite country and western songs. Or a 2nd Legacy that digs deeper into the CCR years and after. You made it, man. You are the Stephen Foster of our generation! My best to you and yours! Marti Ferrari

I just saw a Living Legend! What a FANTASTIC show! Every song a hit, non stop energy. Had the audience on their feet + dancing. Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, Woodstock, the man is a legend, and his performance was exceptional. I've seen a lot of concerts since the 1970's, some of the biggest names, and this show stands out among the top, along with Moody Blues, + Justin Hayward. The venue was nice, well organized (could use more parking, and more signs) Staff, +volunteers were almost all super friendly + helpful. (met 2 with attitude), they didn't detract from experience. Everything was very clean, + organized. Liked it a lot. Was sort of out in the middle of the boonies it seemed. nearest hotels OC Maryland, hard to book 1st week of Aug. Would be nice to have hotel options close to venue. Had a GREAT time would go to see John Fogerty again in a heartbeat if he continues to tour off + on Will definitely visit the Freeman Arts Pavilion again

Fogerty and family were great! Great music, great energy and a great vibe. Normally, I’d give this 5 stars, but… Problem was the venue and weather. I’d downgrade that aspect to a 3 or so, because it was rainy and the location was kind of remote. Also some people around us were being a tad bit obnoxious. Fogerty and fam have no control over this kind of stuff. Still, ignoring that, and the rain was kind of a distraction. I think the fact Fogerty and fam put on such a good show is why the rating is almost perfect. At a better venue with better weather, this would be a solid 5.

Sorry to say I didn't get to go, they sold out very quickly, wish I could have gone to see him as he is my childhood hero and mentor, i got interested in playing guitar and drums after I first heard his music for the very first time in 1968, from then on I was hooked on learning most of his songs, CCR and post CCR John Fogerty era, I can play most of them whether they are completely right or not they are i think as close with the help of You -tube, I listen to his music every day whether I'm driving or welding, in my opinion he is one of the best musical song writer's ever!!!!

How awesome is it that John is out jammin with his sons. They put on a great show. John's voice is a bit different, which you might expect; but I got used to it real quick and it still has a great quality. He has some great stories to tell and man, what a song list. Though he played for a while, there were still some great songs he did not get to. This was a bucket list item for me and I would definitely do that again.

I first saw Fogerty (Creedence) as a 17 yr old concert goer in SoCal in 1969 and have seen him several times over the years . During the show at Frost celebrating Fogerty finally gaining ownership and control of his music the joy and passion came through and playing with his sons’ band backing him made for one of his best shows I’ve seen. The Frost Amphitheater is a beautiful setting hosting various music genres (saw Rancid prior) with better acoustics than expected in outdoor setting.

This was better than amazi stupendous!!! Best rock show I've seen in ages. Fogerty's voice, guitar work, and are those of his CCR days, but far better with time. And he is 79!! Changing guitars with each song, his riffs were amazing...and young, awesome, could watch his fingerings on the big screens!!! His two sons also were on guitars. One of them played a solo and ended with a duet with his dad. The boy was incredible, on a plane with his dad. The instrumentation was fantastic, a Fogerty trademark and the saxophonist was off the charts. Don't miss the Celebration Tour!!!!!

Show was fantastic! Kudos to the Pinnacle Bank Arena for accommodating the change of venue on short notice. First band was the one that John Fogerty's sons are in. Heavier rock than my taste, but definitely talented. Second band was George Thorogood and the Destroyers. He's still got it - rocked the house with his cheeky bar band boogie. Then, John Fogerty opened his headliner set with a video explaining how this tour came about. Got a lump in my throat hearing what he went through to be able to perform his own music and get his prized guitar back. Now he gets to perform with his family. I'd been as anxious to hear these songs performed live as he was to perform them in front of audiences. During "Who'll Stop the Rain", we learn how that was inspired by his experience at Woodstock as photos from Woodstock are shown onscreen. While performing the song he wrote for his wife, the screen showed a collage of photos taken of them and their family, starting with their wedding day. His love for his music, his family, and the audience shone through the whole show. And it meant a lot to me that he shared so much of himself with the audience.

I have been a fan of John Fogerty and CCR, since I first heard him as a teenager, in the early seventies. And now I had the opportunity, to hear him live, for the first time in Berlin. Now John Fogerty, like the rest of us, has grown older, and the question was, whether John Fogerty still had his powerful voice, whether his guitar playing and the songs still rocked. I must say that on all points I was pleasantly surprised. He sang all the songs himself and with his characteristic powerful voice, he played all the guitar solos himself. From the 1st song, the music and the audience rocked together to the highest level. But why was John Fogerty happy this evening. Yes, he is celebrating something very important to him. Back in 1970, his record company secured all rights to the music, that Fogerty himself made, and he felt cheated. In all the years since, Fogerty has tried to buy back the rights to his own songs, but without success. He was so upset that at one point he refused to play his own old songs. Until last year, when he managed to buy back the rights to his own songs. And it was to be celebrated with a tour around the world. When you think about this, it is easy to imagine the motivation it must provide and that is also what happened this evening. The joy spread to the music, the audience and the musicians themselves. John Fogerty even at 78 never disappoints! He’s happier now that he finally “owns” the rights to all his songs again & has turned his band & tours into a family affaire with his 2 sons Shane & Tyler both opening the show & then accompanying their Dad during his part of the show! While I understand his wanting to include his 2 sons, I for one always enjoyed seeing & listening to both keyboard player Bob Malone & Drummer extraordinaire Kenny Arronoff. Hopefully someday they’ll both be invited back to play with him once again!

The show was awesome! It was so much fun to here him talk about getting his music back and then listening to him sing those songs. John Fogerty is one of my favorite artists and I'm so glad to get so see him again in concert. The venue is one of my favorites. Even the hot Georgia summer cooperated and it wasn't miserably humid and hot. The only negative I have to share is that Live Nation did an abysmal job of communicating their clear bag policy. I did my due diligence before leaving home and found NOTHING online, nothing at all about clear bags. Upon arrival, they were enforcing a strict clear bag policy which forced me to carry wallets and phones in a grocery bag all evening while my purse was checked at a checkpoint outside of the venue. Live Nation should have included that information with tickets, in emails they sent, and clearly, front and center on their website.

John Fogerty: 7/26/23 “And we were rollin', rollin’, rollin’ on the river. Well it wasn’t exactly a river and the big wheels were actually tractor trailers as I made my way down Highway 85 South into Hot-lanta Wednesday evening. The event was to be my first time seeing Rock and Roll Hall of Famer and founding member, lead singer, guitarist, and principal songwriter of the iconic Creedence Clearwater Revival LIVE. With John coming into town six months after regaining control of CCR’s catalog after a decades-long battle with his former record label I couldn’t have picked a better time to see one of my ‘bucket-list’ artists! Approaching the outdoor uncovered amphitheater you could sense revival in the air but all you could feel was the 93° temps rising off the stone and it’s waffle-iron seats. A brief shower cooled things off a bit. With two thirds of the 29 date ‘Celebrates His Songs’ tour in the books and John’s 10 studio album/16 charted single portfolio combined with Creedence’s 7 studio album/20 charted singles one could anticipate an evening of musical perfection and selection. My seats were dead center front and back and side to side chosen at the presale. The evening’s performances began promptly at 8 p.m. with a 35 minute / 8 song set from L.A. based ‘Hearty Har’. ‘It’s an absolute privilege to be opening up for John Fogerty, it’s a beautiful night.’ The six person band led by John’s two sons Shane and Tyler Fogerty (both on guitars and vocals) featured classic garage rock and roll with a twist of psychedelia. With songs about rock and roll aliens abducting earbuds, a psycho, and a boogie man the set was overall performed and received well. After a relatively brief stage turn with very little equipment to swap out, the lights dimmed completely for a video introduction featuring an interview with John which included classic video clips. By now I had upgraded myself spotting two unclaimed resale seats on Ticketmaster’s map feature I moved down to row D. At 9:03 John Cameron Fogerty appeared a top a three step riser separated by platformed keyboards to his right and drums to his left (the words ‘JOHN FOGERTY CREEDENCE CLEARWATER REVIVAL’ backlit on the drumhead in psychedelic rainbow). With his right arm raised and fist clenched the spotlight shone on John alone as he strummed the opening note. The flannel shirted and bandanaed Californian retaining the same full head of hair he had in the 70’s opened with 1968’s #2 ‘Bad Moon Rising’. With an image from the ‘Blue Moon Swamp’ album cover of a giant moon on the two side screens we were instantly transported to bayou country. The hour and a half / 18 song set included nearly all the hits with strong vocals and straightforward guitar-work. The sound quality in the amphitheater itself was superb! With an ‘Ah thank you so much “Hello”, I am so happy to be back here in Atlanta playing for y’all. We’re out here to rock and roll and get with it so come on let’s get busy’ he rolled into and extended jam of ‘Up Around The Bend’ and ‘Green River’. Trading out a gorgeous Gibson Les Paul Goldtop for a Rickenbacker, Fogerty told us the backstory of ‘Who’ll Stop The Rain’ written just after Woodstock. ‘This is a Rickenbacker I purchased way back in the first week of nineteen sixty-nine’. He had modified it by putting a Les Paul Humbucker in the bridge after listening to other greats of the era ‘Jimi, Jeff, and Eric, ask your grandpa’. ‘I played this guitar at WOODSTOCK!’ The guitar had gone missing for forty-four years until he relocated and reacquired it in Cincinnati, ‘I got my baby back!’ With the venue not supporting it’s own large video screen aside from the two small box styles to the upper left and right there were obviously missing background images and footage, John referring to them, ‘I don’t know if you’re looking at pictures or not’. Unfortunately, and at no fault of John’s it really took away from the experience as a whole. ‘Rain’ featured John and son trading out licks, Shay playing his own Rickenbacker for just such an occasion. Swapping out guitars yet again this time for a bright red Telecaster he performed ‘Lookin’ Out My Back Door’ in classic Buck Owens’ AM radio style and brilliancy. Back to his original Black Gibson he moved into his own #’5 ‘Rock And Roll Girls’, ‘Lodi’ and ‘Run Through The Jungle’ playing the harmonica portions himself. Fact of the matter, he kept his roadie tech busy swapping out, tuning and retuning guitars all night long! Mid-set turned to some lesser known obscure cuts. There was the roots styled political ‘Effigy’ from ‘Willy And The Poor Boys’ followed by a love song for his wife Julie ‘Joy Of My Life’ from ‘Blue Moon Swamp’ introducing and featuring his tenor saxophonist Rob Stone and welcoming his two sons Shay and Tyler. ‘Perhaps you have noticed some family resemblance on this stage’. Anyone who took the opportunity for a beer break missed out on one of the best songs of the evening ‘Keep On Chooglin’, the song likely popularizing the term meaning to have a ball or good time. Starting out with some showcase solo guitar the song moved into a harmonica and mini-drum solo between John and Richard Millsap (his credits include Delbert McClinton, George Strait, Kid Rock). John called the shots on harp and Richard echoed back on drums. Back to the hits Fogerty called on the audience to make some noise. Apparently there was a bit of bad blood between the artist and the venue’s locals, ‘I love this place called Chastain Park, the neighbors take offense but “What the Hell”’, and ‘Make some noise, take that Mrs. Peachtree’. ‘Have You Ever Seen The Rain’ followed with his own #4 hit ‘Centerfield’ rounding the bases in which John played a baseball bat shaped guitar. The electronic hand claps matched the white spotlight flashes and ending the song John motioned a ‘You’re Out’ call at the final note. ‘Down On The Corner’ was next, he sure knows how to build a setlist at that point everyone was up and dancing. Another highlight of the evening was his only #1 1984’s ‘The Old Man Down The Road’. With and extended guitar solo featuring himself and both his sons, that one song in my opinion was worth the price of admission. Rounding out the regular set was ‘Fortunate Son’. John who received his draft notice and served during the Johnson administration (although never deployed) played a blue and black plaid guitar that matched his shirt. The encore following consisted of two songs but first a cart was rolled onstage holding a bottle champagne, glass, and a party hat. John took the stage alone, ‘As you probably have heard I got my songs back. It’s a really big deal for me… I had a plan, my plan was “I outlived all those sons of b*****s” and that’s reality!’ With the band members reentering one by one with glasses full they toasted the celebration with John. ‘This is for you, I love you!’ ‘Travelin Band’ and you probably guessed it, ‘Proud Mary’ with final bows brought the evening to it’s conclusion. A John Fogerty Creedence Clearwater Revival message ‘Thanks for Celebrating!’ image on the side screens signaled both the end and a brand new beginning. Notably missing from the setlist were: 1968’s #11 ‘Suzie Q’, ‘Long As I Can See The Light’ and ‘Sweet Hitch-Hiker’. I wasn’t at Woodstock and I hadn’t been afforded the opportunity to have seen Creedence LIVE but I’d like to say that tonight I saw a little piece of history unfold! ‘I’m the dad [of these songs],” Fogerty told Billboard. ‘I created them. They never should have been taken away in the first place. And that hijacking left such a massive hole in me.’ With a brilliant ‘Buck’ half moon setting in the sky over Chastain Park it became obvious for John that the bad moon had long at last taken a miraculous turn for the good!” Review and photo by DAve (Concert #803)

Great show. However, no one seemed to know the start time. We had everything from 6:30 to 9:00. The ticket takes said John would be in at 9:00. One sign said 9:00 people on official cloths told us 8:00, 8:30 and 9:00. The websight said 7:00. Tickets said 6:30. The opening act started earlier than anyone said. John did start at 8;30. Other than that the show was great.

I approached this concert with caution. I have been a big fan of John Fogerty and CCR for over 50 years. Just about the same time he has been banned from playing his own songs live (complications with licence owners). I thought his advancing age and the fact he hasnt played these iconic tunes for such a long time that he would be out of practice and energy. How wrong could I be. John played alongside his two sons (whose band Heart Har where the excellent warm up act) and had every bit as much energy , enthusiasm and commitment as his younger offspring. I have waited a long time to hear these songs played live and I was not at all disappointed. Fantastic renditions almost note for note to the originals. Wonderful memories playing on the big screen (he was at Woodstock for goodness sake). Tribute to Tina. Everything I could have wanted. I really hope he returns to the UK....and soon.

John Fogerty defies the test of time as his show was full of energy and he still sings and sounds the same as he did in 1969. John did not skip a beat and hit all the high notes of his sings at the ripe age of 77. It was amazing to see his sons play with him on stage. John Fogerty is a Rock Icon and he is in the same league as Paul McCartney, Mick Jagger and Bruce Springsteen. It was on my bucket list to finally see my Rock Idol and I did and was not disappointed. I loved the show and he was just incredible.

I have been a fan of the Lowell Auditorium for a number of years (50). Also, a fan of John Fogerty. That said, this concert, though fun was not the familiar experience. The sound was often garbled and over modulated. It improved when John Fogerty appeared, but by the last few songs the volume muffeled the voices. The Auditorium is about to celebrate 100 years of service, the sound system may need some updating! Fogerty still gave a good performance in spite of the drawbacks. Fogerty 8. Technicians 5.

I really liked the show but I paid for VIP Seating not General Admission Seating. I ended up sitting way in back. When I called up the C****o about a month ago they told me that they didn't know where it was going to be held at. When they sold the tickets they said it was going to be in a Amphitheater not outside like it was. I knew every song John sang but my gf didn't since she is a bit younger than me.

Got a lump in my throat hearing what he went through to be able to perform his own music and get his prized guitar back. Now he gets to perform with his family. I'd been as anxious to hear these songs performed live as he was to perform them in front of audiences. During "Who'll Stop the Rain", we learn how that was inspired by his experience at Woodstock as photos from Woodstock are shown onscreen. While performing the song he wrote for his wife, the screen showed a collage of photos taken of them and their family, starting with their wedding day. His love for his music, his family, and the audience shone through the whole show. And it meant a lot to me that he shared so much of himself with the audience.

I have been a fan of John Fogerty and CCR, since I first heard him as a teenager, in the early seventies. And now I had the opportunity, to hear him live, for the first time in Berlin. Now John Fogerty, like the rest of us, has grown older, and the question was, whether John Fogerty still had his powerful voice, whether his guitar playing and the songs still rocked. I must say that on all points I was pleasantly surprised. He sang all the songs himself and with his characteristic powerful voice, he played all the guitar solos himself. From the 1st song, the music and the audience rocked together to the highest level. But why was John Fogerty happy this evening. Yes, he is celebrating something very important to him. Back in 1970, his record company secured all rights to the music, that Fogerty himself made, and he felt cheated. In all the years since, Fogerty has tried to buy back the rights to his own songs, but without success. He was so upset that at one point he refused to play his own old songs. Until last year, when he managed to buy back the rights to his own songs. And it was to be celebrated with a tour around the world. When you think about this, it is easy to imagine the motivation it must provide and that is also what happened this evening. The joy spread to the music, the audience and the musicians themselves. John Fogerty even at 78 never disappoints! He’s happier now that he finally “owns” the rights to all his songs again & has turned his band & tours into a family affaire with his 2 sons Shane & Tyler both opening the show & then accompanying their Dad during his part of the show! While I understand his wanting to include his 2 sons, I for one always enjoyed seeing & listening to both keyboard player Bob Malone & Drummer extraordinaire Kenny Arronoff. Hopefully someday they’ll both be invited back to play with him once again!

The show was awesome! It was so much fun to here him talk about getting his music back and then listening to him sing those songs. John Fogerty is one of my favorite artists and I'm so glad to get so see him again in concert. The venue is one of my favorites. Even the hot Georgia summer cooperated and it wasn't miserably humid and hot. The only negative I have to share is that Live Nation did an abysmal job of communicating their clear bag policy. I did my due diligence before leaving home and found NOTHING online, nothing at all about clear bags. Upon arrival, they were enforcing a strict clear bag policy which forced me to carry wallets and phones in a grocery bag all evening while my purse was checked at a checkpoint outside of the venue. Live Nation should have included that information with tickets, in emails they sent, and clearly, front and center on their website.

John Fogerty: 7/26/23 “And we were rollin', rollin’, rollin’ on the river. Well it wasn’t exactly a river and the big wheels were actually tractor trailers as I made my way down Highway 85 South into Hot-lanta Wednesday evening. The event was to be my first time seeing Rock and Roll Hall of Famer and founding member, lead singer, guitarist, and principal songwriter of the iconic Creedence Clearwater Revival LIVE. With John coming into town six months after regaining control of CCR’s catalog after a decades-long battle with his former record label I couldn’t have picked a better time to see one of my ‘bucket-list’ artists! Approaching the outdoor uncovered amphitheater you could sense revival in the air but all you could feel was the 93° temps rising off the stone and it’s waffle-iron seats. A brief shower cooled things off a bit. With two thirds of the 29 date ‘Celebrates His Songs’ tour in the books and John’s 10 studio album/16 charted single portfolio combined with Creedence’s 7 studio album/20 charted singles one could anticipate an evening of musical perfection and selection. My seats were dead center front and back and side to side chosen at the presale. The evening’s performances began promptly at 8 p.m. with a 35 minute / 8 song set from L.A. based ‘Hearty Har’. ‘It’s an absolute privilege to be opening up for John Fogerty, it’s a beautiful night.’ The six person band led by John’s two sons Shane and Tyler Fogerty (both on guitars and vocals) featured classic garage rock and roll with a twist of psychedelia. With songs about rock and roll aliens abducting earbuds, a psycho, and a boogie man the set was overall performed and received well. After a relatively brief stage turn with very little equipment to swap out, the lights dimmed completely for a video introduction featuring an interview with John which included classic video clips. By now I had upgraded myself spotting two unclaimed resale seats on Ticketmaster’s map feature I moved down to row D. At 9:03 John Cameron Fogerty appeared a top a three step riser separated by platformed keyboards to his right and drums to his left (the words ‘JOHN FOGERTY CREEDENCE CLEARWATER REVIVAL’ backlit on the drumhead in psychedelic rainbow). With his right arm raised and fist clenched the spotlight shone on John alone as he strummed the opening note. The flannel shirted and bandanaed Californian retaining the same full head of hair he had in the 70’s opened with 1968’s #2 ‘Bad Moon Rising’. With an image from the ‘Blue Moon Swamp’ album cover of a giant moon on the two side screens we were instantly transported to bayou country. The hour and a half / 18 song set included nearly all the hits with strong vocals and straightforward guitar-work. The sound quality in the amphitheater itself was superb! With an ‘Ah thank you so much “Hello”, I am so happy to be back here in Atlanta playing for y’all. We’re out here to rock and roll and get with it so come on let’s get busy’ he rolled into and extended jam of ‘Up Around The Bend’ and ‘Green River’. Trading out a gorgeous Gibson Les Paul Goldtop for a Rickenbacker, Fogerty told us the backstory of ‘Who’ll Stop The Rain’ written just after Woodstock. ‘This is a Rickenbacker I purchased way back in the first week of nineteen sixty-nine’. He had modified it by putting a Les Paul Humbucker in the bridge after listening to other greats of the era ‘Jimi, Jeff, and Eric, ask your grandpa’. ‘I played this guitar at WOODSTOCK!’ The guitar had gone missing for forty-four years until he relocated and reacquired it in Cincinnati, ‘I got my baby back!’ With the venue not supporting it’s own large video screen aside from the two small box styles to the upper left and right there were obviously missing background images and footage, John referring to them, ‘I don’t know if you’re looking at pictures or not’. Unfortunately, and at no fault of John’s it really took away from the experience as a whole. ‘Rain’ featured John and son trading out licks, Shay playing his own Rickenbacker for just such an occasion. Swapping out guitars yet again this time for a bright red Telecaster he performed ‘Lookin’ Out My Back Door’ in classic Buck Owens’ AM radio style and brilliancy. Back to his original Black Gibson he moved into his own #’5 ‘Rock And Roll Girls’, ‘Lodi’ and ‘Run Through The Jungle’ playing the harmonica portions himself. Fact of the matter, he kept his roadie tech busy swapping out, tuning and retuning guitars all night long! Mid-set turned to some lesser known obscure cuts. There was the roots styled political ‘Effigy’ from ‘Willy And The Poor Boys’ followed by a love song for his wife Julie ‘Joy Of My Life’ from ‘Blue Moon Swamp’ introducing and featuring his tenor saxophonist Rob Stone and welcoming his two sons Shay and Tyler. ‘Perhaps you have noticed some family resemblance on this stage’. Anyone who took the opportunity for a beer break missed out on one of the best songs of the evening ‘Keep On Chooglin’, the song likely popularizing the term meaning to have a ball or good time. Starting out with some showcase solo guitar the song moved into a harmonica and mini-drum solo between John and Richard Millsap (his credits include Delbert McClinton, George Strait, Kid Rock). John called the shots on harp and Richard echoed back on drums. Back to the hits Fogerty called on the audience to make some noise. Apparently there was a bit of bad blood between the artist and the venue’s locals, ‘I love this place called Chastain Park, the neighbors take offense but “What the Hell”’, and ‘Make some noise, take that Mrs. Peachtree’. ‘Have You Ever Seen The Rain’ followed with his own #4 hit ‘Centerfield’ rounding the bases in which John played a baseball bat shaped guitar. The electronic hand claps matched the white spotlight flashes and ending the song John motioned a ‘You’re Out’ call at the final note. ‘Down On The Corner’ was next, he sure knows how to build a setlist at that point everyone was up and dancing. Another highlight of the evening was his only #1 1984’s ‘The Old Man Down The Road’. With and extended guitar solo featuring himself and both his sons, that one song in my opinion was worth the price of admission. Rounding out the regular set was ‘Fortunate Son’. John who received his draft notice and served during the Johnson administration (although never deployed) played a blue and black plaid guitar that matched his shirt. The encore following consisted of two songs but first a cart was rolled onstage holding a bottle champagne, glass, and a party hat. John took the stage alone, ‘As you probably have heard I got my songs back. It’s a really big deal for me… I had a plan, my plan was “I outlived all those sons of b*****s” and that’s reality!’ With the band members reentering one by one with glasses full they toasted the celebration with John. ‘This is for you, I love you!’ ‘Travelin Band’ and you probably guessed it, ‘Proud Mary’ with final bows brought the evening to it’s conclusion. A John Fogerty Creedence Clearwater Revival message ‘Thanks for Celebrating!’ image on the side screens signaled both the end and a brand new beginning. Notably missing from the setlist were: 1968’s #11 ‘Suzie Q’, ‘Long As I Can See The Light’ and ‘Sweet Hitch-Hiker’. I wasn’t at Woodstock and I hadn’t been afforded the opportunity to have seen Creedence LIVE but I’d like to say that tonight I saw a little piece of history unfold! ‘I’m the dad [of these songs],” Fogerty told Billboard. ‘I created them. They never should have been taken away in the first place. And that hijacking left such a massive hole in me.’ With a brilliant ‘Buck’ half moon setting in the sky over Chastain Park it became obvious for John that the bad moon had long at last taken a miraculous turn for the good!” Review and photo by DAve (Concert #803)

Great show. However, no one seemed to know the start time. We had everything from 6:30 to 9:00. The ticket takes said John would be in at 9:00. One sign said 9:00 people on official cloths told us 8:00, 8:30 and 9:00. The websight said 7:00. Tickets said 6:30. The opening act started earlier than anyone said. John did start at 8;30. Other than that the show was great.

I approached this concert with caution. I have been a big fan of John Fogerty and CCR for over 50 years. Just about the same time he has been banned from playing his own songs live (complications with licence owners). I thought his advancing age and the fact he hasnt played these iconic tunes for such a long time that he would be out of practice and energy. How wrong could I be. John played alongside his two sons (whose band Heart Har where the excellent warm up act) and had every bit as much energy , enthusiasm and commitment as his younger offspring. I have waited a long time to hear these songs played live and I was not at all disappointed. Fantastic renditions almost note for note to the originals. Wonderful memories playing on the big screen (he was at Woodstock for goodness sake). Tribute to Tina. Everything I could have wanted. I really hope he returns to the UK....and soon.

John Fogerty defies the test of time as his show was full of energy and he still sings and sounds the same as he did in 1969. John did not skip a beat and hit all the high notes of his sings at the ripe age of 77. It was amazing to see his sons play with him on stage. John Fogerty is a Rock Icon and he is in the same league as Paul McCartney, Mick Jagger and Bruce Springsteen. It was on my bucket list to finally see my Rock Idol and I did and was not disappointed. I loved the show and he was just incredible.

I have been a fan of the Lowell Auditorium for a number of years (50). Also, a fan of John Fogerty. That said, this concert, though fun was not the familiar experience. The sound was often garbled and over modulated. It improved when John Fogerty appeared, but by the last few songs the volume muffeled the voices. The Auditorium is about to celebrate 100 years of service, the sound system may need some updating! Fogerty still gave a good performance in spite of the drawbacks. Fogerty 8. Technicians 5.

I really liked the show but I paid for VIP Seating not General Admission Seating. I ended up sitting way in back. When I called up the C****o about a month ago they told me that they didn't know where it was going to be held at. When they sold the tickets they said it was going to be in a Amphitheater not outside like it was. I knew every song John sang but my gf didn't since she is a bit younger than me.
