About Horsha on the Moon

So as the lack of taste grows ever more prominent and pop and hip hop mediocrity proves unwavering in it's ability to make talent an endangered species, we continue to be hopeful that rock and roll will somehow survive the slaughter. Horsha on the Moon seems to be one of the rare species that shows that we aren't letting this happen without a fight. Their new release "Silver Colored Babies" shows that there is still proper rock and roll to be had and if the plastic pop masses are trying to exterminate this, then they're going down swinging. Horsha on the Moon started their eardrum assault in 2013 when lead guitar/vocalist Arshak Alozian decided that if the book of Rock and Roll was going to die, the Armenian culture should have a chapter as well. Knowing that current music trends needed to be sent to the Turkish consulate, Alozian put together a sound he felt would keep the definitive concept of rock and roll alive. A three piece rock engine from Los Angeles, Horsha pulls from elements of guitar laden riffs indicative of bands such as Spiritualized, Jesus And Mary Chain, and Swervedriver. In a strange time vortex, they are the bridge between Sub Pop and Creation Records that has somehow presented itself out of chronological order. Alozian's guitar work displays glimpses of the edginess of records such as Nirvana's In Utero, as the bands attitude projects strands of defiance in the same vein as Smashing Pumpkins' Siamese Dream and Oasis' Definitely Maybe. Fortunately, as Horsha demonstrates, we are still occasionally introduced to a band that keeps rock from being something that our children will have to learn about in the Smithsonian. So give it a listen. It'll put hair on your chest. John Silva Trickless Magician Spotify.com/HorshaontheMoon Soundcloud.com/HorshaontheMoon Twitter @horshaonthemoon Instagram horshaonthemoon
