About Liza Forero "LiZi"

My journey in the music industry is a story of passion, perseverance, and power. Those 3 words have been permanently embedded in my soul and will continue to drive me forever. Those words not only motivate my life in general, but are vital to make it in this industry. At age 16, I began recording and writing my own music. It took me very long to embrace that I had a voice to use professionally, as I was extremely shy about singing growing up. I’m not sure if it was because I was afraid of telling my father I could sing, or thinking I couldn't sing at all, maybe both. I was an introverted child, who studied ballet to pour my creative energy out. Secretly I wished I could be just like my father. You see , my father and my uncles put together a 60′s rock band and achieved fame in Colombia, where my family is from. I dreamed of being confident like him and be able to sing to everyone! My love for all musical genres derived from the musical gene my grandfather passed down to me. He also achieved success in Colombia as the conductor for Colombia’s National Military Band. Aside from the musical influences in my family, growing up in the 90′s was a major factor in my passion for music. The 90′s was a moment in time where both Pop and R&B music was at it’s peak. My radio alarm would wake me up with jams by Aaliyah, Boys II Men, Celine Dion, and my idol Mariah Carey. I’d get ready for school and watch music videos on MTV from the likes of Michael Jackson, En Vogue, TLC, Spice Girls, and Madonna! All these artists helped mold who I am today, but Queen Madonna is a subject in itself. Madonna was the most influential artist in my life! I’ll never forget the power she possessed stating, “I wanna take over the world,” when asked what her plans for the future were. The passion inside me knew I could persevere and be that powerful artist she is. Her captivating persona and effortless and innovative way of entertaining is what I aspired to achieve as a child. I watched as she embraced all types of music and genres and I related to her respect for musical expression. I believe I have all these qualities and yearn to express my soul to the world. I want my audience to connect to my journey as I write my diary in these lyrics. I want to push them into the positivism I possess, but also pull them down to the darkness I have experienced. I want them to connect to different emotion whether it’s through English, Spanish, Middle Eastern Sounds, A Capella harmonies, rock guitars, Piano ballads, and even cool hip- hop tones. My goal is not to save the world or some hypocrisy like that, but provide an escape. An escape of any daily emotion we feel. To know that it’s easy to seek therapy through music than to keep it bottled up inside. I didn't talk too much as a kid, but music spoke to me, and it shaped my life tremendously. I want to formally introduce myself. My name is Liza Forero, but you can call me Lizi. I’m just a silly Jersey girl with a big voice, who doesn't want to take over the world, but would like to influence the world positively. Liza Forero Official Facebook Fanpage. Pop/R&B singer-songwriter and recording artist w/ Hip Hop/Soul/Latin flavor. Competed on XFactor 2011.
