About Kyle Henderson Music
Introducing, again, Kyle Henderson. A prolific songwriter and talented vocalist, Kyle Henderson has been on a multi-faceted musical journey all his life. His style melds blues, rock and soul in an original, magical way. With his first full modern blues-rock album, Kyle is getting a “Brand New Chance” at his musical career. Kyle is no stranger to the music business big leagues. In the late ‘70s he was a member of Whiteface, a band that would enjoy a very limited brush with fame. Featuring a mix of pop, R&B, rock and funk, Whiteface was signed to Mercury Records and recorded their self-titled debut album. The band was based in Atlanta, Georgia, and though they enjoyed some popularity in their home town, the band’s debut failed to take off. Kyle, the bassist and one of the lead singers for Whiteface, moved from Whiteface to new wave/power pop band The Producers. The Producers briefly enjoyed the fame that had escaped Whiteface. Signed by CBS subsidiary Portrait Records, the Producers recorded 2 albums under the tutelage of Tom Werman of Cheap Trick and Ted Nugent fame. The band broke into the Billboard Top 40 with “She Sheila”; plus, "What’s He Got," "Certain Kind of Girl" and "She Sheila" all generated much airplay on the fledgling MTV. The band headlined MTV’s “New Year’s Rockin’ Eve” in 1982. The Producers periodically play together today in special shows, and they have recorded a blues/rock album, produced by Tab Benoit, that will release in late 2013 or early 2014. While Kyle continues to be a part of that group when the Producers are active, he is forging ahead with his Madison, WI-based blues/rock quartet. Kyle plays British-style blues rock. His musical background includes a healthy dose of British pop, rock and blues artists from the ’60s and ’70s: Cream, Ten Years After, Free, Animals, Stones, Small Faces, late Beatles. So his blues-rock music reflects those references in his songs and singing. Blues as a genre is big enough to include everything from the acoustic, Mississippi delta blues of Son House and Robert Johnson to the electric Chicago blues of Muddy Waters and Howlin’ Wolf to the modern rock blues of Susan Tedeschi and Gary Clark Jr. to the powerhouse guitar blues of Stevie Ray Vaughan and Joe Bonamassa. In that mix is room for Kyle’s blues focused on song, melody and vocal; rooted in the British blues-rock invasion; and embracing of the the genre’s flexibility and expansiveness. Kyle’s Madison band—which he likes to call "Big Beefy"—includes Michael Ripp on guitar and Chris Sandoval on drums. Chris toured extensively with Tommy Castro, and Mike played with '80s glam-pop phenoms Chaser. These talented artists are featured on “Brand New Chance,” which was recorded in Milwaukee, WI by Steve Hamilton of Makin’ Sausage Music. “Brand New Chance” aptly demonstrates that this band plays “gut-bomb blues of the highest order” and that Kyle is one “vocalist extraordinaire,” as proclaimed by The Isthmus. “Brand New Chance” promises to be the release that propels Kyle Henderson back into the spotlight. Packed with intelligent, sophisticated songs, this album will delight the traditional blues music lover and will attract potential new blues fans to the genre. Introducing, again, Kyle Henderson.
