Tomàs Sotolongo Fuentes was born on 10 december 1974 in Havana City, Cuba. His music interest begon from a very early age singing at school and in the neighborghood where he raised and grew up Reparto San Agustín, La Lisa. Havana City. At the age of 15, he registered at the Music Conservatorium Fernando Carnicer, during this period of time he was a member of Opera Nacional de Cuba. Not so long after this, he took part of the Coro de Càmara Vocal Leo directed by the well known Directora Coral Corina Campos. Performing Cuban Choral Songs, Italians Operetta, American Black Spirituals, Latinoamericans Sons, Zarzuelas, etc…. He also participated in severals Music Contest in and outside his country, lands such as Mexico at Festival de Mùsica Coral Latinoamerica in 1996, Festival Coral de Guadalajara in 1998 and Festival de Mùsica Coral de Cantónigros Spain in 1999 in which Vocal Leo got the first place. Tomàs (aka Tomi) in 2000 decides himself to explore his musicals knowledge into the Folk’s Music from his country Cuba ( La salsa ). He joined to severals bands such as: Hanny y su Orquesta, Quinteto Habana-Santiago,Septeto Son Como Son,Orquesta Falide and Orquesta Son Candela conducted by Adalberto Avila ex-bass player of Adalberto y Su Son. In 2001, he joined to Grupo Aché Habana for two years and take part of the first album of the group “ Donde Estàs” recorded in 2002 by Virgin Records.At the same time performing tours for longer than two years in countries such as Belgium, The Netherlands, Luxemburg, Germany. In 2002 Tomàs took the decision to emigrate to Belgium, looking for new musical challenges. In Belgium he has joined to Grupo Doble Impacto, Grupo Contrabando, La Excelencia, etc…and performed with great artist such as Henry Fiol, Nino Segarra, Mario Rivera “Mayito Van Van”.He has also recorded in Doble Impacto’s albums “Solo te Digo and “Cohibar”. Recently Tomàs Sotolongo Fuentes has released it a New Album with Genius Records, he made incursion into the tecno, pop, reggae music. After all these years of intense career, Tomàs decides to create one of his own work, a dream that he has been carrying out. TimbaLight is the concept he gives to his inspirations, energy, new ideas. Timba comes from La Mùsica Popular Cubana actual, Rumba, Guaguancó. “Light” he pretends to play it softer who those who can not dance, can just listen to it and feel it and the ones who can well dance, rumbero’s, enjoy the soul of music.
