The General

The General is made up of Heather Bernard, Tyler Brown, Steven Berkley, Josh Zeidel, Pete Feltman and James Duffy. Sometimes down tempo, sometimes tongue in cheek, the band’s sensibilities to a sincere sound is always top priority. After scheduling conflicts with other members put Tyler and James’ previous project, Lobster Head, on hold, they joined forces with Heather’s upper octave vocals and high octane violin to create a new, more serious take on their vision. After adding Steve behind the kit and Josh’s in the pocket bass-lines, Pete’s unique style of banjo, vocals and songwriting create a mix that rounds out the sextet’s unique and soul filled look at modern Americana. The new sound oscillates from harmonized slow country, to mid-slow tempo folk, to high-energy saloon style tunes that even a coast-to-coast truck driver could dig. One part romance, one part nostalgia, a dash of politics and a touch old-fashion humor, the group doesn’t rip you off in terms of finding a foothold and begging you to hang on for the ride. Currently working on their sophomore record, The General is evolving towards a unique sound that promises an honest tune at an honest price. The General is a six piece, Americana group from the San Francisco Bay Area.
