Týr

I've been listening to Tyr for about 15 years and this was the first time that I got to see them live. I had tickets last March in Detroit, but had my first chemo treatment the week before so couldn't go. My daughter still went and had a great time. This time around my daughter and I got to see the show in Joliet. The two local opening bands were pretty good. The first one had some technical difficulty with their guitarist, but that seems to have been fixed a bit later. The second local opening band - Havron - had more energy and seemed to put on a better show. The drummer reminded me of Animal from the Muppets. The lead singer's vocals could have been mixed a bit louder, but overall they did a really good job. Then there was Aether Realm who was the main opening band. Maybe they are good in the studio, but their sound mix tanked live! It was very muddy. But others in the crowd were getting into them so maybe they are not my cup of tea. Tyr came out during one of their songs with blow up axes, war hammers, and swords and "attacked" Aether Realm. This was quite funny! Then there was Tyr. They put on an amazing show! Crowd participation was high. There was only one song on their playlist that I didn't recognize, but that one was great also! The lead guitarist seemed to come out of his shell around the halfway point. Aether Realm paid Tyr back and attacked them with blow up implements of destruction". I have to say that both bands were able to maintain their stage presence while getting attacked. It was very light hearted!

This was such an amazing show! I've been waiting to see these guys, and finally, they were playing locally, and they did not disappoint. I really hope they come back for another show! Worth every penny! Highly recommend it to anyone who needs to see some great metal!

The band was great, excellent energy. The fans were polite and respectful. The challenge was the venue. I don't follow the metal scene, but the drums were oversaturated and with no guitar amps on stage, all the guitars, much of the vocals and melodies were projected from ceiling speakers 1/3 way into the crowd and sounded muted and far away. Noise-canceling earbuds evened out the sound a good amount. Bar staff was attentive and not too overworked. Nice to be able to go outside to the side/back patio. Had hoped to meet Europeans who were fans but mostly a local crowd. Not used to mosh pits but one of the earlier bands split the audience to set up a safe area for slam dancing so you could join in or avoid. An impromptu set of fans sat and mimed rowing as part of the vibe which was cool.

I’ve waited 16 years for this moment. Absolutely amazing show and the VIP meet and greet was just the icing on the cake for me. I was extremely nervous meeting everyone, but y’all treated us so kind. My nine year old is now asking to come to a show, can’t wait to take him to his first concert! Thank you guys for the memories

It was so freaking awesome to see them live, they played great, great atmosphere, every single member were jamming and put their all into it. It was absolutely fantastic. Would love to see them live again.

What an amazing show. Killer set list! Among the lucky few who got to see the acoustic pre-show set - all three tunes in Faroese 🇫🇴with multipart vocal harmonies. Pure. Metal. Class!

This was my first time seeing Týr and they did not disappoint 👏. They played songs from every era of their career and everything I wanted to hear live from them. I will cherish this show always 😎🤘

It was a great show! I have my new favorite facility for the next concerts. But I'd say there were a couple moments which didn't make it right - Monday and 4 bands! 3 first bads were also awesome and they really warmed the guys up. But as they warmed everyone most were tired by the time Tyr appeared... Guys, Tyr, you have an awesome new album, you have some of my favorite songs. You can do better!

Excellent roster of bands - loved them all. Tyr is what drew me in and now I’m a fan of the other three especially TrollfesT - they were pure pink chaos and I loved them 💗

This show was absolutely incredible!!!! TÝR is my favorite band. We got vip tickets to see the acoustic set before the concert and meet the band. I have been a fan for almost 20 years. Seeing them was a bucket list item for me. I can now die happy. Long live TÝR!!! HAIL TO THE HAMMER!!!!!!!

As much as I would like to give this a rave 5-star review, and support any international act that wants to tour here, there were a couple of minor performance issues that detracted from an otherwise good show. Lead guitarists guitar was out of tune with the rest of the band for the entire show, and some persistent timing issues from the drummer. Anyway I understand these guys are new to the band and I'm sure they'll get better as a unit with time. The lead singer and bassist are rock solid and put on a high quality show. Hope they all enjoy the tour here.

The band was spot on. They have been each time I have seen them. Unfortunately the experience was marred slightly by an obnoxious fan shouting as loud as he could for Heri to look at him.

Tyr put on a fantastic show as always, with a good mix of great tracks from their back catalogue and songs from their latest album Hel. We were left wanting more though! We were very happy to learn that they will return to North America as headliners in April 2020 - can’t wait! 😊🤘😊

Tyr was amazing. Demons & Wizards were unreal. Lizzy Borden didn’t fit the bill with all of that glam b******t, but their two new guitarists can certainly rip it the f**k up.

Týr was absolutely amazing and played roughly a two hour set which was incredible!! The opening bands I was less familiar beforehand but have since been listening to their music! I wasnt super impressed with the venue, but the show itself was one of the best we have been to!
