About Deathwatch

It all started with a little Eddie and Ben Belote. Cousins who shared an interest in metal music and playing guitar. They became very good friends and wanted to start a band together. Being only two guitar players, with Ben being the singer, this was not a sufficient band. They found Joey Tamone, a friend of Ben's from school, who played the drums. The three of them created a metal band named Ultrabled. In need of a bass player, they found Ezra Deloach, but Ezra proved to be inadequate, so they went searching again. One day at band practice, they went on a walk, and met Josh Deckman, who was a guitar player that only recently had taken up playing bass, with influences in funk. The four of them kept the name of Ultrabled alive, and they had set up to play a local show at Joey's house for his graduation party, but just before the date of the show, Joey's parents said that the show couldn't take place at Joey's house. Joey then asked Ben if it could be at Ben's house, but Ben's father wouldn't allow a crowd larger than 12 people at the house, so the show was cancelled. After such an incident, Joey decided the band deal wasn't his thing, and that he needed to "grow up". So in search of a new drummer, Ben found Wesley Goodnow to replace Joey. With a new drummer, in a new environment, and a new setlist with a new vibe, the four decided to drop the name "Ultrabled" and picked up the name "Koma". They put together a whole new setlist of thrash and heavy metal, and eventually got called up to play a show at a small local meeting hall called "The Calvert Grange Hall" where they played 7 songs for 20 people. Soon after the show, Ben was invited to jam with another local band, and decided to leave Koma to join this other band, which became the band known as Sycamyre. With the loss of Ben, Koma was out of a lead singer and rhythm guitarist. The band was at a standstill and wasn't sure what to do. Eddie had a friend from school named Luke Albert, who had expressed an interest in singing and had been playing guitar for only a short time. The band had then decided to recruit Luke into the band as the lead singer and rhythm guitarist. With a new lead singer, and as the band was never too sure on the name "Koma", the band decided to discuss having a new name. The final name was Deathwatch, which is the band we now all know today.
