About Fuzz Manta

FUZZ MANTA started out a five piece stoner and heavy blues band in 2006. Our first full lenght CD album "Smokerings" (2009) comprised 10 tracks of heavy hippie hard rock, while we gained a lot of live experience through many tours to Germany, booked and promoted by the hardworking Berlin based booking agency Magnificent Music. Releases by the first lineup: Moon Stone Sessions - 5 track demo 2006 (DK) On The Edge - 7 track mini album, self released 2007 (DK) On The Edge - track on Electric Magic vol. 1, comp., 2008 (DE) The Killer - track on Unchained vol. 1, comp., 2008 (USA) Mysterious Thoughts - track on Trip In Time vol. 3, comp., 2008 (DE) Smokerings - album, Bad Deal Records/World In Sound, 2009 (DE) Mysterious Thoughts - track on Heavy Blues, comp., Classic Rock Magazine, 2009 (UK) Mysterious Thoughts was played on Bruce Dickinsons Rock Hour on BBC6. Smokerings review by THE QUAKER GOES DEAF: "This is blow-your-ears-out, old school, fuzzy blues rock led by exceptionally powerful & pure female vocals. Crisp & crushing production, a powerful, spot-on rhythm section and tastefully ripping guitar leads put this one several steps beyond most in this genre. Similarities to Stone the Crows, Zephyr, Big Brother & the Holding Company, Free, Flame, Deep Purple, Colour Haze, Motorpsycho, Jefferson Airplane, Jex Thoth, Stevie Ray Vaughan, etc. Recommended for serious rockers everywhere." A change in the lineup came by the end of 2009, and the new quartet (bass-guitar-drums-vocals) soon found its own style within trio based 70s rock. Revitalized and hungry we laid down the basic tracks for the next album in the rehearsal room during the course of summer and fall 2010 while continued touring took us to Sweden, Germany and Spain. Live review by LOWCUT: "The new 4 piece line up is really great and has a different vibe and feel from the old line up. There is more freedom and space in the music now and everyone is really having fun." Opus II was out on CD in December 2010, and on LP in time for the March tour of Germany 2011. Third album "Vortex Memplex" was released on LP/CD by Kozmik Artifactz in September 2011. Later that year founding member Clod (bass) left the group in order to start a new band (Shivas Nat) together with Patrick from Highway Child. Fuzz Manta found a new bass player in Janus, he was the first to rehearse for the spot, and we didn't need to look any further. Janus joined us in spring 2012. The rest of the Vortex Memplex shows that were lined up for spring/summer 2012 were played, before we went into recording mode. Album number four is called "The Stonewolf". It will be out on CD on Kozmik Artifactz in August 2013, and later in fall on special edition double LP. This album will lift an eyebrow or two.
