BANTU (an acronym for Brotherhood Alliance Navigating Towards Unity) is a trailblazing 13 piece Afrobeat band from Nigeria, celebrated for their vibrant blend of music and activism. Formed in 1996 by Ade Bantu, the group has become a prominent voice in African music, known for its energetic live performances, thought-provoking lyrics, and eclectic sound that fuses Afrobeat, Highlife, Afrofunk, and traditional African rhythms. Rooted in the rich traditions of Nigerian music and influenced by global sounds, BANTU’s music addresses pressing social issues such as corruption, inequality, and identity, making them a voice for change in contemporary Africa. Over the years, BANTU has collaborated with some of the finest names in African and global music, including UB40, Tony Allen, Patrice, Akua Naru, Gentleman, Seun Kuti, Yemi Alade and Burna Boy, just to name a few. The band is also known for organizing Afropolitan Vibes, a groundbreaking live music concert series in Lagos, which serves as a platform for showcasing Africa’s diverse musical talents. With critically acclaimed albums like “Everybody Get Agenda” and “What Is Your Breaking Point”, BANTU has garnered international recognition, earning nominations and awards for their bold, uncompromising artistry. As musical ambassadors, they continue to redefine Afrobeat for a new generation while staying true to its revolutionary roots.
