Mente Clara

Mente Clara was born out of a love for the music of Hermeto Pascoal and other Brazilian masters. They combine soaring melody with sophisticated harmony and the danceable rhythms of Northeastern Brazil. The band has developed a reputation for exciting live shows and brings that same energy to their debut record, Wanderlust, which will be released in May, 2014. This is music for both the mind and the soul. The band first came together for a session on a Sunday afternoon, after saxophonist/pianist Owen Summers and bassist Daniel Durham met and decided that there was no reason not to play Hermeto’s music. Drummer Aaron Parks and saxophonist Brian Donohoe were also there for that first session, as the band began to explore Hermeto’s music. As the group developed, they began to play more original compositions and were joined by saxophonist Jonathan McNutt and percussionist Bruno Vinezof.
