The Dream lives with MORE Pieces!! Pieces of a Dreams 40 year legacy out of Philly is very well alive and ever more entertaining! This original 3 piece has grown to 6 instruments (and sometimes 7, with an additional vocalist). The energy is present not only with Curtis on drums & James on keyboards but infused further by Tampa born Saxophonist; additionally balanced and empowered by a percussionist steering the group as well as another beautiful keyboardist and young bassists. What a night of entertainment and engaging partying with the Birchmire well fed crowd , even down to our server. Get ready to PARTY!! Thoroughly enjoyed the evening with good friends and ‘The 454”!

About Pieces of a Dream
Pieces Of A Dream has been churning out chart-topping hits for four consecutive decades. Even the iconic Count Basie declared Pieces Of A Dream “A tough act to follow!” Hailing from The City of Brotherly Love, the celebrated band was crowned “Pioneers of Smooth Jazz” by The Philadelphia Inquirer. Throughout their illustrious career, childhood friends, pianist James Lloyd and drummer Curtis Harmon, have managed to stay true to their mission of spreading peace through the gift of music. Pieces Of A Dream remains one of the architects of contemporary jazz and has no plans of slowing down.
Not many groups manage to stay together for over 40 years and amass a catalogue of over 25 recordings. The story of Pieces Of A Dream is remarkable when you consider that James Lloyd and Curtis Harmon were still in High School when they experienced their first recording session in 1981. Not long after that, they hit the road performing in Grover Washington Jr.’s rhythm section and opening for him as Pieces Of A Dream. “Mr. Magic” took Lloyd, Harmon and former member, the late Cedric Napoleon, under his wings and signed the band as the first group with his brand new production company. Pieces released three albums in quick succession, firmly establishing its place in the world of smooth jazz with the CDs Pieces of a Dream (1981), We Are One (1982) and Imagine This (1983). Those albums include some of their biggest early hits, including “Warm Weather,” “Mount Airy Groove” and “Fo Fi Fo.” Pieces Of A Dream is currently recording with Shanachie Entertainment. Their first project with Shanachie was In The Moment, in 2013, followed by All In, Just Funkin’ Around, On Another Note, Fired Up and the most recent project entitled We Got This was released in April 2025.
Pieces Of A Dream has toured the world, sold over one million albums, and scored both Smooth Jazz and R&B radio hits along the way. Pieces Of A Dream excels at serving up an irresistible signature fusion of Jazz, R&B, Funk, Pop, Blues and beyond. There is something for everyone and for every mood in a “Pieces” performance.
Most recently, long-time band member and saxophonist Anthony Watson, Jr. was made an official Partner of Pieces Of A Dream. Tony has been lighting up the stage with is saxophone, vocals, and songwriting skills for 14 amazing years. Together the ensemble kicks it up a notch with just the right amount of funk, ballads and everything in between. Their energy is contagious and audiences never leave disappointed.
