The Psychedelic Furs

This is my first time to see the psychedelic furs, although I had been listening to them since 1980! Some of their songs are my all-time favorites, like ghost in the machine and heartbreak beat. The band, although aging, did not disappoint. They put their heart and soul into the performance, so professional. The crowd was totally into it.

A fantastic show! Rooney was a wonderful opener. The Romantics rocked a The Psychedelic Furs were phenomenal! Energy, enthusiasm and personality filled the stage. Richard Butler’s voice and energy are still top notch! They played such a great variety from all their albums. Fan favorites, classics and newer material. A wonderful concert!

one of the best bands from the late seventies +'80s .. awesome band!! they always put on a good show. my only complaint is I wanted them to just keep playing all night long. the t-shirts were reasonably priced but I already had one... they were only 40 bucks I love that. And five stars for The Chameleons they're always awesome I love that band, I've seen them so many times .they rule !!! Long story short I had a great time. first time at that venue I got another show there later on this season and I can't wait!! jj

I never thought I'd get the chance to see the PFurs live, never mind in such an intimate venue. Richard Butler hasn't lost a drop of stage presence, and his resonant vocals are as on point as they were nearly 50 years ago. It was possibly the hottest night of the year, we were in a sweat box. And we didn't care. They could have played all night, and we would have kept dancing. This was one of those gigs you remember for a lifetime.

I've seen the psychedelic furs several times over the decades. Yes, they're older, yes, the voice has changed, but the energy remains the same. Their music is of my youth, and it speaks to my soul. This is a band that's not to be missed. First time at the salt shed. Great venue except for the broken elevator. I've now added the salt shed to my favorite list of venues to attend. In warmer weather, I'll attend their salt shed fairgrounds. Kudos to the architect that upcycled this venue from its previous morton salt headquarters.

The Psychedelic Furs was one the best shows I've seen in awhile! The people in MN were very lucky they had a stop here. Richard Butler was all over the stage engaging with the audience and he sounded fantastic 👏. The Squeeze was also alot of fun 😀

They were awesome! Very entertaining and the sound was great. They played most of their hits. Just wish they would have played more of them. They were only on for and hour and 15 minutes before the other band came on.

The Psychedelic Furs brought their classic alternative sound. Richard' s voice is stronger than ever. The joy he has in still performing and getting the love back from the audience is contagious. Mars and Rich's bring the new songs off Made of Rain to life. Zach keeps the energy and beat alive and with a whole new level. Tim has his classic poses and rhythm always interactive and entertaining. Amanda is the glue that holds the beautiful chaos together. Seeing the Furs is always a pleasure.

Singer sounded EXACTLY the same after all these years!!! So cool to see some legends still doing it. I think the vocalist and his brother the bassist are the only remaining OG members. Bassist came into the crowd which a hadn’t seen yet at this venue.

Richard’s voice is timeless, the band is super tight, and they all look like they’re having a blast. One of the best live bands. Great to see them killing it live better than bands half their age. I do prefer them at a place like The Fonda or maybe El Rey.

The Furs always deliver the goods. They come on stage and get the job done. The songs speak for themselves. Richard is a great singer and front man that works the entire crowd. The old hits blend well with the new material from their new album" Made of Rain". The Furs rank right up there with The Cure and Depeche Mode as a vibrant live act.

Thoroughly enjoyed the show. The Furs sounded amazing and do a great mix of old hits and songs off the new album. I guess it was due to it being a Tuesday, but I was shocked how much the venue emptied out before the show wrapped, but I can't imagine it having been due to anything the Furs did or didn't do!

What a great show. X opened at exactly the hour and meant it. Played a full set without much audience chatter, which left room for lots of music. Drawing across their career, they were charged up and ready to go. I've been seeing them since 1979 and this may be the best I've ever heard them. Standouts included Bonebrake taking a turn on the marimba, Bill rolling out his saxophone skills and Exene and John in top vocal form. See them now while you can. Psych Furs were in great spirits, showed off material from the new album and prowled the stage with extra moody grace. Butler gestured, bowed and grinned for added emphasis. They played the hits but reached for deeper cuts for the first half to set the stage for a melodic release. A great show.

Really enjoyed this gig. The Furs played a tight set, entertained throughout and Richard Butlers performance was wonderful. The moves, the strut, and along with another British band James who never disappoint this was a quality night. Absolutely loved it though enjoying a concert at this venue can depend a lot on where you end up standing. I got very lucky at the front

Surprised by Richard Butler’s upbeat mood and tireless energy and onstage interaction with bandmates! They played solidly with highlights including 3 songs from their original album. Sax player was in smoking hot form and featured often, as well he should. James was solid though only played about 20% oldies/ hits.

House of Blues always a top venue. Opener from California ... Dear Boy ... tried hard, but were a bit too discount Gin Blossoms for our money, although when they unleashed the final song, quality was evident, but too much shoegaze and hair flick got in the way for the early set. After a break, the magnificent James took the stage. Tim Booth occupies the stage like a Michael Stipe/Thom Yorke hybrid; never still, always present. Despite some mike issues, the show moved at a good clip, and a solid set of old and new material graced our ears. Sonics from the balcony level were bass heavy and vocals punched way high, which unfortunately highlighted pitchyness at times. 'Sometimes' was anthemic, and the crowd-pleasing and obligatory 'Laid' was on point. Madchester done proud. Now... Psychadelic Furs... musically tight as ever... showmanship on point... vocals.... not so much. Richard Butler woos the somewhat sedate crowd with banter occasionally, and the intent to entertain is there, but the voice more flat than not. 'Love My Way' was decent later in the set, and after an effortful 'Mr.Jones' opener, we were hoping for more. A sampling from across the catalogue kept most fans happy, but the delivery was tough all night. 'Pretty In Pink' felt more of a chore than a celebration, and the closer of 'India' left us wondering if the best is all behind us now. James saved the night for us... 4 stars for them, 3 for Furs, 2 for discount Gin Blossoms.

Second row. Close enough to hear the singing and sax without the speakers. Haven’t been this close in years. Always a favorite, and interesting set list order to the songs. Looking forward to the day Richard says more than “ok, and yeah” between songs. Having seen them many times since ‘83, not holding my breath.

I LOVE seeing them live. This is number 4 for me. The only thing I didn’t like last night was having reserved seats. We had great seats, but I like being able to go to the front and move around. I will always see them when they come to the city I’m in.

The Furs sounded very good, once the sound guy got their instruments balanced 4 songs in. Poor sax player was blowing his brains out for nothing. Short gig at approx only 85 minutes. Would have liked the band tonight deeper but I guess as was evident by the crowd they had to play the game hits. Too bad, cuz their first 3 albums are beginning to end gems. The Canyon as can be typical was a greedy setup of dinner tables taking up the whole floor. Could not stand and rock out to the band. And it was overcrowded as is typical of some shows there. Bartenders are great!
